After losing our other venue we have seen another one that we love even more the only problem is that it is a bit further away. Our original choice was only 15 mins away from my house but now this one is 45 mins, i know my day guests wouldnt have a problem making their way to the venue, but do you think some of the evening guests might find it a bit far to travel just to be there for a few hours??

    thanks ladies

    xx

I'm sure if they are good friends then they will travel that bit further, maybe some of them could travel together to make things easier? Or get together and hire a minibus!

My Reception Venue was about 30mins from where I live and all my friends and family live. I had hired a bus to take everyone home from the Reception that lived out my way so it meant people only coming at night only had to find their own way out to the reception and they would be on the bus back with the other guests which worked out brillant people either shared taxi's coming and split the fare or got the train as the railway station was only 5min walk away then they all got the bus I had hired back.xx

im just worried incase people decide not to come because of the distance, and its in the middle of a village so not any major transport links nearby. people are already coming from dundee to the wedding and i feel awful that they might need to travel for almost another hour! x

What about having it in the Dalmeny Park Hotel that is pretty nice or somewhere like that and that way it's not too far out!! I know what you mean Beith is a bit of a trek but I'm sure that those most important to you would be more than willing to travel and if other people don't want to travel out then it's their loss xx

If people can't be bothered to travel to your wedding when it is under an hour then I wouldn't want them there to be honest. All of my guests have got to travel an hour and a half to get to my venue but not one of them has complained. I would book what you want where you want it. If people don't want to come then it saves you some money ;)

If you love the venue then go for it. Our guests have to travel about half an hour for the ceremony and then about 15 mins for the reception. People will travel for wedding, i think half the time they expect to.

My venue is approximately an hour away - it's all day and we're happy to arrange hotels and potentially transport if there's enough interest.

Only be sorting it out next year though :-s

our venue is about 45mins away too hun, my friends from work will have to travel about 1hr30 if they come. Is there any accommodation nearby that perhaps you can suggest to people if they dont want to travel back?

45 mins is totally fine my reception venue is about that away from my church - I've put a bus on. I've travelled loads of times to get to weddings and thought nothing of it!

As everyone has said, if people want to be there then they will. Our engagement party proved that distance is not a problem, one of my friends lives in Bathgate and has just had a baby so drove all the way up to Fort William to drop the baby off at her parent's house before driving back to Bathgate then to the party in Fife. She made the effort because she wanted to be there and it'll be the same for your guests.
To be honest 45 minutes isn't a huge distance to travel for such an important event. xxx
