    Hi Ladies,

How early have you/are you booking your photographer ??

We're getting married July 2015 but I've found what I think could be THE photographer but me and H2B are a bit aprehensive about putting down such a big deposit so far away from the actual day.. And then on the other hand I'm worried that someone will book them for our date if we wait too long :-(

Wishing I'd never started looking for photographers ! xx

1st november 2015, videographer was booked last year (£50) and my photographer was booked but changed my mind (lost £50 but I wasnt happy so rather that then hate my photos) and the new one will be booked next month! (£150)
These sorts of suppliers get booked up fast so its never too early to book if you wait they may not be available so do it now to get the one you want

It's a £200 deposit though :-( Really worried about losing that much money if something goes wrong..
We lost deposits in 2011 having to cancel the wedding we were meant to have July 2012, I don't want to go through that again......

I'm August 2015 and keep getting told off by my mum for even looking let alone booking - but when I booked our venue I had to adjust our date as the Saturday I wanted was already gone!! I am booking everything asap and just hoping all goes to plan - I would rather lose the deposit then the venue/dj etc I want. Though its hard getting H2B so involved this early, if it was up to him it would be whatever is available in the last month lol

My god ! Stephanie that sounds exactly like my life at the mo !! Haha.. Mum's saying its too early for anything but the venue and H2B is almost as bad as yours lol !

But again, the same as you, we had to ask about 3 different dates for our wedding until we got an unbooked one !! Wanted June 13th, then Aug 1st, then 25th July and finally got to pencil in 4th July ! Off to get a quote etc tonight ! :-)

I suppose it's a risk we're going to have to take if we do want that photographer for definite :-(

I booked mine about a month or so ago. I don't actually know how far in advance they aloow you to book, or if it varies.. but if you are able to with the one you have found, then I'd go for it if he's what you want as you DO run the risk of someone else snapping up your date. I'd say it's unlikely so far in advance, but you never know... as if you are thinking about it, other people willbe as well!

You might want to look into wedding insurance before you book, to put your mind at rest. Im not sure if it applies to all or some though as the weddign ins I looked at would only cover you up to 2 years before.

Velcro - Thanks, I'll have a look into insurances.. I'm going to see if we can agree to something like provisionally booking and if she gets a enquiry about our date to let us know... You never know until you ask I guess..

Stephanie - My MOH is my sis in law (though not married to my brother) and she has now decided, since we started really planning ours, that she wants to get married now and wants it next spring/summer... So she's doing her wedding plans now, not really interested in mine at the moment..
Thank you :-) I'm very excited ! Haha

If someone else enquires and they decide to book there and then, she will take their booking rather than giving you a chance, obviously it won't hurt to ask, but be mindful of the fact that if that other person wants that date and is willing to pay the deposit there and then, she will take it

Yeah I've thought of that, and also thought about her making up 'date robbers' too, just to get the deposit...
I might as well ask though as we really are apprehensive about it having been stung in the past !
Our venue takes provisional bookings until ready to pay the deposit.. Just wish this photographer would :-(

If you have a venue and your date is in stone I don't see that it's too early. Just take your time, your photographer is one of the most important parts of the day. You don't want to pick someone you aren't 100% happy with.

I think we'd get on really well, we were emailing last night and really seem to be on the same wavelength.. I guess I'll just have to meet with her, see if she is how she came across in the emails and see if H2B will be happy too..

I have another potential if this one doesn't work out but I like the friendly feeling she gives off, the other one seemed friendly but on a professional level, like they'll be working for us and not with us, if that makes sense !

I'm not even risking searching for my dress until October/November next year !!
I wish I hadn't started looking at flipping photographers either !!! Stupid free quote thing on here lol...

I think they should do bands/DJ quote finder aswel !!

H2B thinks photobooths are a waste on money :-( I'd like one but hey ho lol.. And he's in charge of the cake so not my problem :-) Haha..

DJ finder would be amazing <_< Searching for my photobooth has given me the biggest headache so far, its doubling up as my guest book so it needed to be exactly what i wanted. Cant beleive i finally got that sorted and am happy with what I get as well lol

Dress I came across by *accident* and fell in love! I keep seeing so many beautiful dresses though i have to close my eyes LOL! Ideally I did want to wait til next year, but well..... this is what happens when we look!!!

I came across cake lady by accident as well actually, id been browsing a few, which were very good, but i found a fellow geek that does cakes and she's amazing... it's going to cost a fortune, but well... *Cough* more over time for the boy!

Ah right, thats a good idea !

Haha, the only thing I'll be releived to be over is the photographer ! Enjoying photography myself makes me even more determined to find a great one that'll take the pictures I want, not just formal ones, or ones that suit them !

I dont mind waiting to find my dress, I'm not going anywhere near a dress shop, just incase I find one by accident !!! Lol.. I have a few ideas in mind of what I want though :-)

I've looked at a few cake sites but they are not to be discussed with H2B because he wants it to be purely his choice for me, not me directing him in anyway whatsoever lol..
Haha, ahhh bless him ! It'll be worth it ;-) xx

If u've found one you like go for it and book them! I was so disappointed when I couldnt get my original choice who got booked for my date two weeks before I spoke to them. We have however now found someone who could infact be better :-)

Less then a year till i marry my wonderful man

we found our photographer in Oct last year and not getting married till Aug next yr. We hadnt even found the venue then!! deposit was only £70, 10% of the price.
Ask if they will accept instalments for the deposit. I would def look into taking out wedding insurance.
Good luck getting it booked. Its never too early to book, especially if its a popular month.

That is my problem too.. I want those pictures that nobody else will have in their album.. Everybody is going to have the generic group photo's, back of the brides dress, pic of her shoes (although I'm not wearing any lol), the bride stood near a window or double doors etc... I want those unique few..

Haha, I believe we could be.. Ooooor it's the fact that anybody can take a good picture nowadays with the equipment thats about, but it takes a certain person to take an amazing picture.. A lot of the photographers I've looked through could merge their sites and you wouldnt know the difference, but I think with the one I've found you could so I'm definitely going to meet her, and if we both like her then I'll bite the bullet and book her !! xx
