    Hey everyone :)
    Happy New Year :)

Just a quick question that is on my mind...

According to the countdown clock on my wall, it is 34 months to my (provisional) wedding day, and I have already started buying a few magazines, looking at venues, buying an admittedly GORGEOUS leather wedding organiser and folders, all ready to get planning.
Like I said, the 2nd December 2014 is quite a while away and is only a provisional date. We have said we wanted that date as it is our anniversary, however it could be before or after then.

I am so excited and happy that I am engaged to the love of my life, but whenever I talk about wedding planning to some people, they look at me as if I am losing my mind. I even think my h2b is a little overwhelmed, but he does still look through stuff with me.

I was just wondering how early members on here started to plan? I don't want to be over-excited and launch into things, but I have always been organised and prepared for any eventuality, but on the other hand I don't want to stop being excited.

Any advice would be REALLY appreciated.
    xoxo

hey hun...itsnever to early to plan and depeding on your circumstances its up to you what you buy and book and when you do it....ive been waiting one year and got another to go and for me it worked out perfectly, i spent the first 2 months getting loads of ideas, putting together scraps, thinking of venues, just masses of ideas, then spoke to h2b about budgets and what he wants, from that we dieced how much we would spend (a very important part) were we want to get married and when (according to the budget) from then i started putting together the color scheme and planning decorations and things like that. 6 months in i was in full swing buying table decorations, getting invite ideas and thinking of the sort of dress i want. now a year in i have the invites and all wedding stationary, the dress the flowers (foam) my dress, all decorations, my bm dress and the venues, and i still feel like i have loads to do but its all things like making sure theres no labels on items and the important legal stuff. be warned you h2b might get a bit bored of you..i know mine always sees me on here....but enjoy it, Aand what ever you change your mind on you can always re sell on ebay....just make sure that most of your ideas are definatly what you want dont go buying things in yellow if you sudeenly want blue if you get my drfit....but enjoy it,,,youll pick up tips on the way....

Hey MissLauraFaye, I am getting married feb 2014 and i started thinking about wedding stuff even before i was engaged (took my h2b ages to pop the question lol) its deffo not to early to start getting idea's together and figuring out what you want as that way when your ready you know what you are looking for.. I started properly planning the day i joined here (check date on my profile) and to date now i have chosen venue, Dj, invites, and 6 months ago i put deposit down on my dress (with regular monthly payments being made), have a all my guest list written up, my own vows written, my ring chosen, h2b's ring bought, and bargins saved on my ebay account :) so if you feel ready then go ahead, dont worry about what other people say xoxox

Exactly hun its deffo good to be organised because that way i can actually enjoy planning the wedding instead of stressing myself out and not knowing what to do, also it gives me time to get to know my suppliers which is very important to me, building up trust with them so that i know i am getting a good service and that my money will be well spent becuase everyone works hard to save for their wedding so its only right that you have trust with company's your going to use so you know your hard earned savings wont be wasted and you can have an amazing day :) xoxo

I got engaged December 2009 and would have started arranging right away but knowing how indecisive I am, h2b was really reluctant to pay deposits for anything lol not that I'd admit it but he was right, I've changed my mind on loads several times over since then! We actually started booking things in January last year and started with things I knew I wouldnt change my mind on - venue, insurance, band :) x

    Hiya ladies!

We're getting married in Jan 2014 and we've started planning too :0) We've chosen our theme - icy winter wedding with colours of silver, ice blue and white with plenty of sparkle and glitter! Next on the agenda is to find a venue and get some ideas of costings. I've started looking at styles of dresses and will visit a couple of shops to try on various styles, materials etc and will either get it by monthly payment plan or if it's ridiculously expensive I'll be using one of the sites other brides have recommended. By planning early, we'll have time to look and sort things out and also pay bit by bit, rather than in one or 2 lump sums!
Am thinking of asking my sister to make my bouquet - she's getting married this year and has made her own bouquet out of brooches - it's STUNNING!

    xx

Claire - that's a really good point about building up the trust and confidence of your suppliers. I'm just thinking of how organised planning this early is going to make me but I really didn't think of it from that point of view!

Jill - again, another plus to planning early then!! I can be a little indecisive but then as soon as I have found THE thing - whether it's THE dress, THE venue, THE cake etc - I never want to deviate. That's a b2b's prerogative I guess ;)

ILuvCakes - the bouquet idea sounds so amazing! Novel and different!

Again, thanks for everyone's input - anyone else reading can still feel free to comment. It's giving me a good idea of when to have what done and by when. Also, I picked up a copy of "Brides" Magazine this month and that has some pretty good tips in there with a free mini wedding planner mag :)

I have a october 2014 wedding and already have most of it booked as im getting great in advance rates for it all. Its never too early to plan that way you have a realistic idea of what it is going to cost you and you can spread it out and if you see a bargain pick it up. i have the reception, church, catering, dress (yeah i know mega early but was such a bargain), veil, favour bags and im in discussions with cake makers and photographers which are happy to offer me at this years price if i put the deposit down. its saving me alot of money.

Its never too early - especially if there are things that are a definite - I'm getting married on June 2nd 2013, and I've booked venue, got dress, photographer etc all last year. You can also get some great deals! Also, if you're planning but not buying at least this way you can organise yourself and make room for decision changes :)

    Nope never too early hunni.
Our original date was the royal wedding but due to one or two family matters we have postponed to 1/11/15 and we have already booked the venue and car, sorted which photographer to have, who to do my hair and make up and what flowers to have, Ive seen a few dresses I like but I wont buy yet just in case, I did buy some bridesmaids dresses off the bay as they were a bargain but might have to sell if they no longer fit :-(
I have my centre piece vases, bridal parties presents, favours, gift bags, my shoes and Ive just ordered pearl napkin rings with matching glass charms and I have a lady designing my jewellery to match a watch I fell in love with hehehe

never too early and starting now is great for spreading the cost

    Hi All"!

Im the same. we are working to the date 5th April 2014, and already have started looking at ideas for bridesmaids, flower girls etc. I think it helps to feel even more organised. You don't need to set everything in stone but its nice to compile bits that you see, so when you do decide to start booking things, you have already have a few ideas! I also think you might see something which is perfect and then if you leave it you may never be able to find it again!x

If you're looking at packages, the earlier the better as far as I'm concerned! We booked our venue in November for September 2013, went to a wedding fair there last week and the package price has gone up £1k, that's about a 20% increase! So glad we got in there before the hike! Another of the places we were looking at increased it's prices during the 2 months we were looking, room hire went from £750 to £1900!

Just make sure you don't burn yourself out, I've spent the last 6 months thinking about nothing but weddings, and to be honest right now I'm sick to the back teeth of it, enjoying taking a break from planning apart from the odd dress appointment and coming on here! As long as you don't let it take over your life, definitely get planning, especially venue, that's the sort of thing that you wont want to / need to change, and then you'll have an actual date, which is an awesome feeling!

hi all my wedding isnt till june 14 but i have a list of everything i want aleady. I went to a wedding fair at the weekend and my fav designs of cakes etc were there so i def know what i want now.
I have my bm dresses saved to a file on my computer, i have the guest list, the favour boxes and flowers all saved too.

This is my only dilema though i have found the most gorgeous dress after spending ages looking online i saw it. Now it was a great price already but i have found it even cheaper and i am in love. Trouble is i am scared it will be discontinued. I cant find it anywhere but online and i dont know what to do. Its so cheap that if i decide yes i will lose weight (i am a big bride but dont care) i can get another dress or alter this one. Is it wrong to be thinking of getting it anyway??? x

No not at all my dress wont be about in 2014 but i bought it anyway if i need to alter it then i will but it was too good a price and style to not get it. If you love it then get it otherwise you will be comparing every other dress to the one that got away. and as you say if you need to change it then you can and sell that one

Hi, I'm looking for August 2015. I've virtually planned everything! Lol. Going to look at the venue tomorrow and will probably book it at end of month, money permitting. Once date is confirmed I can get save the dates made and send out middles of next year. I know that will still be 2 years to go but I know how hard it is to book time off work and stuff so the earlier the better. Over the years I'm going to make up favour bags and table centre pieces.
I can't wait to start buying things, but leaving my dress till 2014 as losing lots of weight so what suits me now probably won't suit me then.
