Hi - I got engaged in May this year and I'll be getting married in August 2015. I was just wondering if it is too soon to decide on anything as important as a theme. I'm completely in love with mint green at the moment and I want to send out 'save the dates' and invites in this colour, but I'm worried that by 2015 - it'll be a bit over done, or that I might not like it.

Is anybody else in this situation?

    Thanks! x

I was also in love with mint green, but there is hardly anything out there in that colour. So I've brought some pastel pink dresses which are lovely and will accessorise with a shade of green, in the flowers etc. but no definitely not too early, I'm getting married April 2015 and have bought mine.

Plus, if you think about seasons, the pastel colours will come out next February time so ideally you'd have to buy them then or risk not getting them this time next year in the sale or nowhere having the colour for SS15 and if they'd need altering it could be a bit tight on time :) xx

No way is it ever too early! I flicked through colour schemes like a mad woman when we first got engaged but now I'm settled on a nice lilac and silver-grey theme. My partner thought I'd pick green as it's my favourite colour but in the end I went for what will look better! I'm also a 2015 bride.

Nope never too early, it may be a good idea to put together some shades that you like and see what you can find in that shade for decorations and dresses etc so that you are not completely stuck when it comes to getting things.

We were torn between navy blue and Cadburys purple but went with Cadburys Purple and by January, perhaps before, we had all our table decoration bits purchased and we just need to put them together lol.

No never too early, you could always add in an accent colour at a later date if you decided you wanted something different to just mint green :) xxx

Thanks for all your messages ladies! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who wants to plan these sorts of things. It is a lovely colour - so maybe I'll just go ahead and look for decorations etc. I feel better now. My H2B just looks at me like I'm mad when I go on about this kind of thing. It's just so exciting!

    xx

ha ha! ditto! My h2b goes "your the woman you enjoy this sort of thing!" to which he gets a swift beating. :P However it does mean I can let my creative side get on with things.

Hi- we got engaged in March 2012 and booked our wedding soon after for August 2014, since then I have chosen items (not purchased) for 3 different colour schemes- first it was going to be pink, then teal and now I have finally settled on purple. All that time gives you time to think.

It doesnt matter if you choose now or later!you dont even NEED a theme or colour!
I changed my mind several times and its more evolved from a Tiffany blue to a mint green/jade accent to mostly whites and pearl shades with crystals!

I went for green! We had a colour scheme in mind but when we looked (and booked) our venue green would look soo much better, so we changed!

There are a few things in green around, but in terms of high street BM dresses there was nothing I liked! There are plenty of options though!

Its never too early to book but watch out as you will run out of things to do! I tried to spread it all out but so far everything hasn't taken as much time as I though to sort out and now I have to twiddle my thumbs for 8 months!

We are not getting married until September 2016 and we have picked green as our colour scheme. I want a shade that will go well with a very pale dusky pink. My OH picked green because its his favourite colour but it also works well as one of my bridesmaids and my little boy have red hair so pinks or purples would have been too harsh xx

i got engaged on boxing day and we are getting married in march. i picked my eggplant purple and ivory colour scheme in january although i have seen some beautiful corol dresses since. but obviously i would waste the money i have already spent so ive stuck with my original choice. if you think you can stick to the choices you make then go for it xx

We got engaged Feb 2010 and I knew I wanted black and white as our colours.. I added a touch of silver in March this year as H2B wants the groomsmen in silver waistcoats and cravats, while he is going to be in white waistcoat and cravat xxx

It's never too early to plan! Some people say it's too early and you feel very demoralized when they do.. It's exciting getting married and it's fun to plan even if it is several years before you marry :) xx

Nope not too early; lots of people sent out std's in one colour/theme then end up changing it later on. I got engaged in May this year too :D

Not to early at all! A lot of the important parts of the wedding will revolve around the colour scheme so once you've decided on that everything else will be a lot easier! Xxx

our colour theme was decided 2 years in advance. longer actually, though we have only just sent save the dates, the colour isn't on those though - will be on the invites though, so you could go for a neutral colour for your save the dates. saying that though, I doubt anyone would remember or it would occur to them that was the colour theme time the invites and wedding came about anyway, so if that's what you like now, just go for it, if you change your mind its not the end of the world.

Either way, no I don't think its too early to make any decisions, as long as you are SURE that's all that matters really, plus things seem to get booked well in advance these days!!
