I have very pale skin (almost Zombie Blue!) and have been looking at ivory dresses and accessories. I keep finding that ivory almost looks like a nude colour against my skin, but the idea of a crisp white dress basically terrifies me and would probably wash my skin out even more.
So to tan or not to tan?? I have never used fake tan before so it is a rather daunting prospect, and the fact that I am so pale I am worried that it will just make me look orange no matter what shade I try and use.
Has any one else had to take this into consideration?

there's a thread on this hun, I'll try and find it for you. I'm definitely having a tan done, if it's done right there shouldnt be a problem but I wouldnt do it myself at home or go to a spray booth. I'm also very pale skinned and ivory's much better against it than white x

Thankyou Jill. I did do a quick search on tan, but may be I didn't get the right words.

No worries, I think a few people are worried about marks on the dress, I definitely am! I'd go for a big brand if I were you too, if you go for a lighter one in the range it wont look too bad, just you with a hint of colour rx

Have you thought about maybe a slight colour to your dress, maybe an oyster or a champagne tint? xx
go and try having a spray tan so you can see whats its like with the dress, if you have it done a couple of days before it should come off on the dress!

id not reccomend a spray tan... im very pale and it made me so orange each time (i went with 5 different people who used different makes of spray tan) and i went for the lightest colour they all had. i used sun beds for 3 minutes every few days to start with and then use them a few times a month now and im not to pale and iv got a natural tan.. some people hate sun beds but it worked for me as long as u dont get addicted. xx j

one of my friends is addicted to spray tans and she says they do tend to mark clothes once you start sweating, i would def try a spray tan and then jump about a bit in white lol, best be safe than sorry xx

hahaha, Leah, that has conjured all sorts of images in my head. Seems there are definitely mixed feelings about fake tan having done this thread and read through the one that Jill bumped for me. Think I will have to test a few different solutions and see how we go!

lol, yeah iv had a chuckle after reading it back but i agree tests are probs the best way to go xx

If you've got a good while before the wedding why not try a spray tan and see what you think? I've had St Tropez ones before and I'd recomment if you want a natural looking glow rather than a strong tan, I'd get it done 4-5 days before the day, and shower etc as normal. This gives plenty of time for your skin to absorb the tan so even if you sweat at your wedding party, you should have no problems with markings - I've had it done for special nights out and as a wedding guest, and have done plenty of dancing and jumping about! Personally I'm not keen on sun beds because of the potential long term damage to your skin etc...

yeah i agree St Tropez ones are the best :) i am naturally pretty tanned and keep my tan for ages! lol so i am hoping going away in may will still keep the glow for end of July lol xx

I tend to just use the gradual tan ones that aren't too dark as i'm white as a sheet, and in large chemists and body shop you can get a sponge mitten to apply tan to avoid streaks and orange hands :-) I'm only having a very subtle colour to take the white off and add a healthy glow. Tried a spray tan booth, colour was ok but did fade patchy - depends where you go as some people swear by them.
