Hi girls, iv'e got 62 days to go and on Wednesday im going into hospital for an op, it is on my shoulder, i will have 2 incisions, im wearing a strapless dress,my hen night is booked for 10 days later, will i be recovered, will i heal, will i have scars, the doc just says you need this doing else you will be in constant pain, i agree but it is so close to the big day. A positive side to this i will need approx 6-8 weeks off work so i can plan the final things and spend some needed time on here...what do you all think.xxx

I think stay calm Kimmy hopefully the incisions will be small and even if they havent healed up properly you may be able to hide the scars with make up, you will be ok huni.xxx

I was in a similar position. I had a heart monitor in for 18 months and have a scar from that, but it was time to take that out. they said they would make the incision in the same place, but I knew that a fresh scar is more noticable than an older one. there were also complications associated with the first surgery. i was scheduled to have it out in August last year, but with getting married in September, I didn't want to take the risk.
It's not that i'm vein, my scars are part of who I am, but I was more concerned about the complications, particularly after the first opeation. But my time lines were a little too close. So I opted to have it done after the London blessing. I went in for the op in November last year and all was fine, but my incision point was quite noticable. There is make up you can get to try to hide it, if you're worried about that x

I had an arthroscopy on my knee in Sept and one of my scars is still quite purple/ red and the other is a pale pink. How quickly do you normally heal? As early as you can slather it in coco butter or bio oil a couple of times a day. That should bring the colour down quite a bit and make up will cover the rest.
Your probably best covering them up with clothing or plasters on your hen. As you will probably be a bit scabby still if you have stitches that need removing they might still be in or just out. Once they start to seriously itch its time to be removed.

babe am a orthopaedic nurse wat op u havin on shoulder? most shoulder ops ave seen r quiet painful after and patients tend to be on diclofenac for few weeks after and tramodol which u cant drink on really ( tramodol makes u feel like u have taken sumting illegal anyway lol) as for the incisions they tend to be like 1cm or less cuts 3 or 4 2 at front 2 at back but depends on ure surgeons technique they dont tend to stitch these ones either sum left wiv just dressings on sum wiv steri strips on, i wud once they r healed rub baby lotion on them to make them better,

the main worry wud be ure movement in ure shoulder cum weddin day i reckon! but work hard on re physio listen to wat they say and good luck x
