I have been searching tips to make shoes more comfortable and I thought I'd share them with you.
1. Wear them in before your big day. Stick some thick socks on and walk around the house, especially when doing your hoovering! Leave them on for at least 30 minutes a time
2. Rub a small amount of Vaseline around the edge of the shoes, this will soften them up. Please be careful on satin shoes
3. Prepare your feet. Dry and chapped skin will rub more! Regularly use foot creams and file away the dead skin.
4. The higher the heel the more pressure you will get on the balls of your feet, buy yourself a decent pair of gel cushions.
5. Put anti-perspirant on your feet. Sweat and moisture create friction and lead to blisters.
6. Take smaller steps so there is less pressure on your foot. Long strides create extra weight each time you take a step, which speeds up the chances of aches and pains. And please, no running in heels. Ouch.
7. If you have pointed shoes, stuff the points with tissue to soften the material
8. Heels protectors. Walking over grass, cobbles or just uneven paths will not only damage the heel but change the way you walk!
9. Anti-friction/Rub sticks. Dr Scholls is amazing!
10. Buy decent shoes!!

I'm with number 10, I'm trying to convince h2b that all women have Jimmy Choos on their wedding day and that I should have some too but he seems to be struggling with this concept.

Number ten would be the only advice id give. When looking for shoes the ones you buy should feel comfortable and you shouldnt really need to "break them in" xxx

My h2b brought me a pair of Jimmy Choos to wear for the wedding and I sent them back. They were awful on my feet :-(

great post, I think it's good to wear them before not particulary to 'wear them in' but to just get used to how they feel to walk around in. All useful points to remeber :)
I have awful feet, even flat pumps hurt or rub, they are very sensitive so I was just having a look at what could help and a few other girls were saying the same earlier so thought I'd share what I had found, its just basic common knowledge but I know when your close to your wedding and your heads all over the place the last thing you think to buy is a pair of sole cushions

He is indeed a legend. He is worse than me when it comes to shoes though, I think he only brought me them so I'd let him have a pair of Church's which are about the same price as JC's!

have u tried a foot cream or moisturiser melody? maybe that would help with ur feet being sensitive. also make sure the shoe fits properly! dont try and squeeze into a smaller size or wobble around in ones too big, my size tends to change when i go from flats to heels but also in different shops so it is hard to just stick 2 one size 4 all! def need to try them all on and see how u can walk in them.
any heel, when ur not used to wearing heels is gonna feel a bit awkward, but when its comfortable awkward and u could imagine still feeling ok and ur not wobbling everywhere means they r a good pair! lol

I suffered with eczema on my feet when I was a kid, it was so bad I couldn't walk and although I don't get it now its left the skin on my feet paper thin and very sensitive but yeah, I use moisturisers and I always try to wear "decent" shoes and I always wear my right size. I don't like buying online as I can't try them on and I'm normally a different size in different shoes

yeah shoes r one thing u should really go to shops and try on first as all shops r different.
do u have a steroid cream to rub on them as that might help the skin build up a bit? my daughter has eczema although i think shes growing out of it now as i havent noticed any 4 a while, but i use her cream for my hands cos they get really dry and sensitive!
my feet on the other hand could use some little fish nibbling on them! lol the skin is so hard and cracked, especially on my heels.
have u thought about getting heels for the day then changing into some pumps/flats for the evening?

Yeah I have steroid cream but I think I'm so use to it now it doesn't make much of a difference! Eczema is such a horrible thing to have. My skin is very sensitive, always looks dry and mottled :-(
Yeah, now I've decided to have the length of my dress altered I'm going to stick with the wedding shoes I have which are about 6cm so not too high and then get some pretty pumps for the when they hurt lol I'm also thinking of getting slippers!!

Random thought... But if anyone is having heels, I love putting my party feet gel things in the fridge... Really cools your feet down and helps wake up tired and throbbing feet!

Oh no, I hate my feet being cold lol
I'm just going to wear my shoes around the house and prepare my feet as much as I can. The shoes I have weren't cheap, they are Pink by Paradox shoes so they should be comfy! We'll see lol
I don't really want to wear flats in the evening, heels always make you dance better!!

Haha, mine never seem to make my feet cold, they just soothe my feet then get just as warm as the rest of me! Weird as usually I have super icy feet, even in summer my feet get cold!

You are welcome hun. I had never heard of vaseline trick, I think that might work best of leather shoes though, to soften them up. I did read something about ice, put them in freezer bags, stick them in your shoes and let the ice melt, the vapour softens up satin :-S weird!

Fantastic tips!
Also, if you do get blisters, I put cold savlon on and they're gone within an hour. Pretty sure that works with any thick cold cream.

lol ive no intention of wearing fancy shoes no matter what anyone says
I either wear big chunky Cat boots, birkenstock sandals or Converse/Vans so I shall be treating myself to some new ones for the wedding (probably not the boots he he )
I have proper monkey feet - most people recoil in horror at them - my toes are all very spread out and ive been known to use them more than my hands to pick things up etc
hmmmmm come to think of it maybe ill just go barefoot???

I started wearing my shoes around the house a few weeks ago and they don't seem to be softening at all :( Although I am told it's such a fetching look, especially when it was warmer and I would be wandering round in shorts, socks and wedding shoes :P

I figure that if they're not comfy I can always change into some ballet pumps without there being much of a difference - I only have a 3cm heel lol
