They sound pretty spot on to me. We get married at 2pm too.. this will be the rough timing of our day as given to me by our venue:
2.00pm - Ceremony 2.30pm - Arrival drinks and photographs 4.00pm - Wedding breakfast 6.00pm - Speeches and toast 6.30pm - Retreat to other room for tea and coffee 7.00pm - Evening guests to start arriving 7.30pm - Evening reception to start 8.15pm - Cut the cake 8.30pm - First dance 9.00pm - Evening buffet food

That's great Flossie, Thank you. I was having a right panic. It doesn't help that our wedding coordinator has be made redundant and we meet the new one today.. The timings were set by the original planner, so hoping the new one doesn't make too many changes and I want to be as clear as possible.
CommentAuthorFlossie
Not a problem :) I'm sure the timings will be kept the same. The coordinator has to think about how the timings affect the other staff (i.e. kitchen staff, etc) as well, so I'd say the venue as a whole help decide on the best timings for the day so that everything runs smoothly. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about - hope the meeting with the new coordinator goes well :) x

Sounds good to me, we got married at 3pm and reception was in the same room, but were in there for about 545.
Sounds good. Our timings went pear shaped, as we were supposed to get married at 3pm, and the registrar didn't turn up until 3:45! Would have liked longer for photographs

I was told to give the ceremony 40 minutes unless your not having any readings. And also photographs norm take at least 2 hours. Better to give yourself more time the restrict it and then being stressed your behind.

The good thing is if you're having the whole day in one place it won't matter if timings go slightly off. The timings should only be a rough guide to follow, it doesn't matter if things don't happen bang 'on time' :) xx

I'd agree with Flossies timings! We got married at 1pm and everything was roughly the same as that, but an hour in front of course. First dance and cake was the same though I think.
Lana, we had 2 readings and I'm sure it was no longer than half an hour? Felt like we were up there about 15 minutes lol

Ours was booked for 1.30pm but I was 20 minutes late.
So ceremony finished at 2.30pm ish as it was a church ceremony. Then we had 15 minutes of photos outside the church. Took 15 minutes to get to the reception venue.
3pm - welcome drinks and canapés with photos 4.30pm - receiving line 5pm - wedding breakfast 7pm - speeches 7.30pm - cake cutting 8.15pm - first dance 9pm - evening buffet

We have a 3pm ceremony and have similar timings to the 2pm people as we didn't need as long for welcome drinks/photos :)

I was wondering when the first dance and cake cutting would be thanks ladies! We are having our ceremony at 330 am was told we will be done for 4, then 2 hrs for photos and sit down buffet wedding meal at 6pm evening guests and dj for 7pm. So would my first dance cake cutting be about 730? Doesn't the first dance open up the dance floor? I assumed that once the dj kicked in at 7 I had to hurry up and get my dance on before I'd barely digested my Thai curry!
Great friends

We are having our first dance at 9pm
It's just how we have chose itas we want time to mingle and welcome our evening guests first. That's more important to us. At every wedding I've been to there has been people on the dance floor way before the couples first dance, they then normally announce the first dance a few songs prior and the dance floor clears x
CommentAuthorEmmilou82
Our ceremony is 1.30pm and according to our wedding planner, photos at 2pm, wedding breakfast at 4pm, cake & speeches @ 5.30 evening reception @ 7pm, first dance at 8pm....
I think I'd prefer to have the speeches before the meal though so I'm sure the timeline isn't set in stone

Ultimately you can have anything at whatever time you want. There's no right or wrongs, just a 'guide', but it's your day so have it your way!! xx
