Hi ladies, think I have provisionally booked my ceremony this evening!! Very excited!!

We are having the whole day at the same venue, and they have asked what time we want the ceremony and I have no idea! They have suggested 2.30pm as the time most of their couples have the ceremony - does this sound ok, too late or too early????

    Thanks ladies

Sounds good. We had ours at 3pm, then it gave us a couple of,hours for pics and mingle whilst they changed the room around for eating at 530/6.

Yeah she has said, they would plan for the ceremony to finish around 3.15 and then could be ready for us to eat from about 4.30pm if we want? Just wasn't sure if this was too late for photos and that on 2nd November????

Think the timings will be like

    2.30-3.15 ceremony
    3.15-4.30 photos
    4.30-6.30 wedding breakfast
6.30-7.30 mingling & evening guests arriving
7.30 dj starts and first dance

Then by 10pm I will be asleep in the corner while the oh is dancing the night away and getting very merry most likely!

At the end of the day you go for what suits you don't you? I could of had my original date at 1030 if I wanted. Initially we were going to go for a 430 wedding hoping the venue would be cheaper but nope, that's why we went for 3pm. It was only and hour and a half earlier but just right. It gave me time to do things in the morning without it being manic.

Are you sure your venue can book it for you? The reason I ask is that my local authority will only accept bookings from the bride or groom direct. Your LA may be different though!

Tori - I am sure she said she would contact them with my details and then they would contact me if that makes sense! I will double check on Monday and check as need to speak to her anyway as she was going to find out whether the 19th October was available, as there was a question mark over that date!

No I don't think so either, just stating why you would rather an early one. It's personal choice as to what time, not anyone else's. fully understand your reasoning,

We were planning on 1.30 but the only times they had available were 12 or 3.30 and we decided to go for 12 as would have a longer day/night! haha. Think its down to everyones own personal choice but I've been to both early starts and later on in the day and both are as lovely as the next! Yes may be a bit more manic to get ready for 12, but won't exactly be sleeping much anyway!

Laura - we got married at 2.45pm and had similar timings. Are you having a civil ceremony or a religious one? Just asking because we had a minister and our ceremony only took around half an hour, so you may find that photos will probably start a little earlier. We had our wedding breakfast at around 4.30pm as well, finished around 6.30ish then met up with the guests again around 7pm.

As for the morning/afternoon discussion - I'd go for an afternoon wedding anytime over a morning one. Personally, it gave us time to sort out last minute things for the wedding (we were in Gretna so I had time to pick up the flowers for the mothers etc), and it also meant that we could get up later and get ready at our leisure. By the end of the night it also meant we were still awake enough to enjoy our full day - as opposed to starting early and burning out early in the evening lol.

Aww Laura you are getting married on the same day as us (unless you change it!). We are getting married at 12:30 with drinks, canapés and photos after. We are then having the meal at 3pm to finish around 5:30pm to include speeches. We then have 2 hours ish for people to check in relax and then evening will start at 7-7:30pm. :) but like everyone has said - go with what suits you :) x

We're having ours at 1, I think 2.30 Iis ok if ur just gonna feed ur guests once..... The reason for this is... My friend got married in June and had a 2.30 wedding, after all photos etc were done we didn't get eating til 4.15, the had a 3 course meal, then speeches,it was 7.45pm by this time, night do started and they pulled out a BBQ buffet which no one really touched because we'd not long finished the day food ...
    Hope this makes sense xx

1pm -1.30 civil ceremony....we was told its only longer if you put readings in.
1.30 - arrival drinks start of photographs
    3pm - meal
    6-6.30 speeches
    7-7.30 beginning of evening reception
    8.30 first dance
    9pm - evening hog roast

I put a bit of extra time in the meal/speeches because there's always someone who is a slow eater plus u don't know how quickly the staff are going to serve u each course x

I think it is down to personal choice and most timings will work. We have gone for 12 noon as I wanted the day to last as long as possible and also as it is a December wedding I was worried about losing the light early for photgraphs).

12-12.45 civil ceremony (we have a couple of readings and know i will be late!)
    12.45-14.30 photos, canapes and drinks
14.30-15.00 receiving line (we have been told to allow 1/2 hr for 100 guests)
15.00 -17.00 wedding breakfast (not sure if 2 hours is long enough?)
    17.00-17.30 speeches
17.30-19.30 giant games (jenga, connect four, table football etc plus a bouncy castle for the kids - all indoors) bar opens too
    19.45- cutting the cake
20.00- first dance followed by disco
21:00- cheese board and cured meats
12.15 - coach back to hotel

I'll probably be up about 6am anyway so that gives me 4 hours to get ready - hoping that will be enough!!

I'm an early bride too...11am were getting married. Personally I just wanted the full day experience, also I would be sooooo nervous waiting til much later, although I know it will be a bit of a rush.

Tbh I wouldn't have minded a later wedding, but h2b was adamant he wanted to get things going as early as possible. I think this is because we went to a friends 3pm wedding last year, and the church was opposite a pub so everyone had already been drinking for a good three hours before the ceromony - two guests actually managed to arrive after the bride, and ended up following her down the aisle til they found a seat.

I would hope our guests would have the respect for us not to get blootered before the ceromony, but although I didn't think it would be an issue, I couldn't convince h2b.

If I was starting again, I think I would have maybe gone for between 12 and 2...we are having a full wedding breakfast, and I too have been to weddings where they don't eat til six ish and then they put on a massive buffet a couple of hours after the meal....a lot of food was wasted, so maybe something to bear in mind - I would definately tend to under cater for the numbers in that case.

    Xx

We are going with 1.30pm. I wanted 1pm (as getting married 13/7/13) wanted 1300 hrs and other half wanted 2pm so compromised.

It is entirely up you what you think is right and what the venue is like, We are having ceremony, reception and evening in one room so staff have to change it all around so need to do time for that. Gives everyone a chance to mingle too.

We're getting married at 1pm. Our venue has provided us with rough timings and they work at same as kel bel... It's surprising that getting married at 1pm still means that speaches will finish shortly before the evening guests arrive. I feel it gives me plenty of time to get ready in the morning, adm means we have a lot of the day and daylight to see and appreciate the gardens in our venue.
