if you are having an evening buffet are you having seating for each guest or clearing some tables for the evening? i know buffets are more social and people tend to stand around the buffet tables itself but dont want people to feel like they cant sit down :/ xx

Our tables will be cleared I think so that people will be able to feel like they can sit anywhere they like in the evening after the main wedding breakfast, that's what we did at my sisters wedding xx

I hadn't even thought about seating for the evening buffet! I'll make sure there are enough seats for the oldies and figure everyone else can nibble in between boogying! X

surely the venue will clear your tables in the setup for the evening guests so they can sit where they please. as for the favours you could put them in a basket for them to get themselves or walk round or get bm to do that. my bm are handing out the favours straight after the buffet so folk will be still seated at that point and will make it easier to judge.

We are having a table reserved for me and h2b so that we have somewhere to sit when we want to. Apart from that it's a free for all. We are only doing favours for the day guests so we are putting them on the table and using them as place names.

We're only doing favours for the day guests. They'll be plenty of seats for the evening without the need for extra chairs as a lot of people will be dancing anyway or outside if it's warm/dry - there's tables and seating right outside between the marquee and the room where the buffet will be served on the terrace at our venue (so perfect) x

Yeah I guess with the buffet it won't be everyone eating at the same time... We'll be in a completely different place anyway, we leave the dining room after the meal...nyeh, I'm sure the venue will work it out!

My venue is split into 3 rooms. There is the room where we first enter and we will have the drinks reception in there and later on will be the disco. We then move into another room and have our breakfast in there and later will hold the buffet. And then there is another room where the bar and some seats will be. I think later on people will just be flittering between the 3 rooms and mingling so I wont be having a seating plan for the buffet. Not really been to a wedding that has a seating plan for the evening.

I hadnt really thought about that yet, good point though. I might get the venue to bring in an extra table or 2 for the evening guests. I hate standing up eating and I hate at evening wedding receptions when theres not enough seats for folk. We have the bar area which has extra seating too.....ahhhh I am now thinking I havent done enough centrepieces to cover tables for night time.....oh dear

oooooooh good point...I was thinking people could keep their place settings....how will that work, should they be cleared away to collect later?

So I dont need more decorations for the evening? I could leave the birdcages on the tables though eh? I am confused. I want the room to look as good for the evening peeps too. Man I keep panicking at the moment.

Nah our reception is in a different room at our hotel, its a big room with a large dancefloor and we will be having tables around the dancefloor so if anyone wants to grab food and have a seat they can. We are only having favours for the day guests ive never been to a wedding where evening guests get favours-thats just more money that could be saved!

I'm sorry to those I have now panicked lol I think I'll have the tables still in the evening cleared but ill keep the centrepieces on them and just a few extra chairs scattered around so there's enough seating if people want to sit but there's space for dancing and mingling. I never knew evening guests don't get favours I might just have the organza bags with almonds or chocs in a basket for evening guests to take with them if they would like to Ahh decisions ey lol xx
