I'm getting married in 3 days and nothing is going well! Mainly the church is just one big headache! I spent 18 months trying to pin my vicar down to speak to him - that was a challenge in itself. Eventually we go to see him to discuss the order of service and at the same time we organised the reading of our banns. He told us what days and times to go! 1st week of banns - our vicar wasn't taking the service and NO-ONE was aware our banns were being read!! We then found out the service the following week was at a different time to what our vicar told us. 2nd week of banns - our vicar couldn't even get my name right! 3rd week of banns - didn't go! Couldn't bear to watch any more f**k ups and I had to go to a christening.
Vicar emailed me the fees for the church.
14 days (saturday) before the wedding I found out our vicar could not longer marry us as he was going into hospital - through gossip from my florist! 11 days before the wedding I tried phoning to find out what was going on. No joy. 9 days before the wedding find out who our new vicar is. 8 days before the wedding I had to reprint all of our order of services! 6 days before the wedding I meet our new vicar Today 3 days before the wedding I find out that the fees my old vicar emailed me were only half of what we should have had! We now have double what we thought left to pay for the church!!!
Plus my h2b's kilt should have arrived in the shop Monday - its still not here! 3 days!!! This is just too much! I am exhausted as so fed up of people messing us around. Everything is coming to a head and I feel over emotional about it all.
Rant over, just needed to get that off my chest! Hope no one else is experiencing this. x

im sure everything will be alright on the day hun! as for the fees im not sure but id look into it see if theres owt u can do cos once u get a quote that shud stand really???

Thanks guys - just needed to get if off my chest - feeling so stressed about it and how incompetent the church has been! H2b is on the case of the kilt. Friday at 7pm is my cut off time. Anything after that will just have to go wrong! LOL Thanks for the support. Its much appreciated xx

definately speak to the church cause if you got first quote it should stand like nic said .and if its the same church surely they cant just change the prices without warning xx

Thanks guys, I have calmed down a bit now but I am going to take the email I was sent because I think it is shoddy to suddenly tell me I have to pay £148 for the up keep of the church. LOL Claireclaire - no not drunk but I think I should be! The forecast looks good for the weather, so fingers crossed it'll stay nice. xx

Gemma I would take it to the church you have been quoted and as far as you are aware thats the price thats whats been budgeted for and say you have no more money to pay them lol. Aw hunni I feel for you and nothing will go wrong on the day it will be perfect xx

I agree entirely with ginge. Take the quote you were given to the church. And tell them about all the upset and messing about you have had... being good religious folk they should sort it.... although religion is built around money so...... x

yeah you have to pay a fee to put toward the church, I dont have to pay thank god as its my family church been going there since i was very little.
anyway babes, just go down to the church and say this is what you signed up for, they will be more than happy to help you out i think. and as for everything else BABES CHILL, HAVE A BREAK, SPENT SOME TIME WITH H2B, NO TALKS OF WEDDING JUST RELAX.

Probably won't want to do this coz u sound so stressed already but there's no way I'd pay up double at the church a few days before my wedding if I'd been quoted a price much less and have confirmation of it - ur email from the original vicar. I'm sure if u stood ur ground a little and mentioned 'seeking legal advice' u could reach a compromise. Think of it as hiring a wedding venue, booking 12 months before with an agreed cost of say £1,000, and then 3 days before they phone uo and say 'Oh well actually we've decided to ask u for £2,000'. Would u stand for that? I don't think so!

Awww babe that sucks!! I hope you manage to sort everything in time for the big day. You just don't need the stress or worry. As Ginge23 said I would take the original quote to the church and tell them this is the agreed price and you're only prepared to pay this...I think it's a cheek to ask for more with all the messing around thats happened with the priest not keeping you informed!!! Ah it will all come through - just breathe relax (I know easier said than done).
Having said that go for a nice hot bubble bath to calm yourself for a bit then you can think a little straighter and be calm instead of screaming down the phone at people.
The days are flying by, can't wait :)
