Ok so we have been searching for honeymoons and h2b and i originally seen one but i went off it but h2b is really keen and as much as he likes it i just cannot! but hes having some input and im glad of that! but now i dont think tenerife is even the place to go now. So as its our honeymoon we want something really nice, on thomsons website you get the options of which kind of holiday you pick well i picked the boxes for all inclusive and couples but in tenerife you dont seem to get the two together.

So thats the kind we want and the budget is £1800 so can anyone tell me anywhere that is nice to go? i suggested mexico but h2b is like oh i dunno you get a lot of kidnapping there dont you arggghhh!!!!- (sorry dont mean to offend any future brides going to mexico) so just wondered has anyone been there? my best friend went and her honeymoon there.

Please can anyone recommend anywhere good thats for couples only, all inclusive and is within the £2k budget? ive been on this computer for hours now

There's no 'kidnapping' in Mexico; it's perfectly safe.

But, £1800 is not enough to get a decent hotel unless you only want to go for just a week.

With that budget, I'd be looking at Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco (my parents stayed at an amazing hotel in Marrakech called the Riu Tikida Palmerai), as well as short-haul destinations (Greece has some lovely, intimate places; Turkey also has some great all incs). You might also stretch to Cuba.

If you;re looking at Mexico, you need to be thinking about spending £2200 to get somewhere decent.

If you give me your dates and departure airport I'll take a look; £1800 will get you a very good hotel for a week. The only thing I'd say is to consider the flight time; I personally probably wouldn't go that far for a week, but, I know lots of people who have.

Mexico is not the safest place right now, this however mostly effects citizens and not tourists. There is essentially a war going on between drug cartels. Certain tourist areas have been heavily affected, and others have not. If you decide to go there it's best to be well informed about the current situation.
I used to travel there a lot when I lived in California, and to be honest I would not travel there right now.

I knew that posting this would be controversial as I'm sure a lot of people have had a lovely time in Cancun and as of now if you stick to the tourist areas it's a relatively safe place to go. I just wanted to point out that Mexico is not just the land of sun, sand, and sea. There are reasons that there is such a heavy security presence at the resorts. People should be free to make their own informed decision on travel.

The only places in Mexico I would say away from are the border towns/Mexico City/ etc: some 1200 miles from Cancun/Riviera Maya.

I will reiterate: it is perfectly safe to travel to Cancun/the RM/the Yucatan; just don't start trekking 1200 miles to the likes of Puerto Juarez etc.

I have been 3 years running and would go next year if we could afford it, and we will definitely be going in 2014 for our honeymoon. The only real 'risks' in the area are those which are everywhere you go ie do not take unlicensed cabs (you might get ripped off/they might not have insurance), don't go out flashing valuables around, don't leave valuables unattended at the pool/beach, don't take short-cuts home through dark alleys, if you go clubbing, don't leave drinks unattended, etc. IE, apply the same common-sense rules that you hopefully apply back home.

If you're looking for all inclusive and hot - as well as places to visit, I'd recommend Malta. We went there on our honeymoon, and as it was August it was gorgeous weather. We booked with Thomas Cook and a week all inclusive cost us just less than £1600 (we checked out the price online first, then visited the shop to see if they could match it, as well as asking for 'extras' such as sea view and high room etc). They managed to price match - and the hotel even through in a bottle of bubbly on our first day because it was our honeymoon. There's lots of places to visit there - and plenty of opportunities for diving/watersports etc as well. They only downside is that most of the coast is flat rock that you can sunbathe on - but there's not a lot of sandy beaches.

If you still fancied the Canaries, but not Tenerife - Lanzarote is gorgeous as well. We visited there in April and the temperature was high 20's even then (a lot warmer in August/September). We went all inclusive again and because of the time of year, a week was only £700 for the two of us. There are a lot of beautiful beaches there, as well as places to visit, gorgeous restaurants and plenty of nightlife. We stayed near the old town of Puerto del Carmen though, which has some lovely pubs but is quiet - but only about 10 minutes away from the livelier new town as well. The volcano area is really worth a visit as well. And the one thing about Lanzarote (or the part we stayed at least) is that there were no time share people hassling us to buy - heaven lol.

If your looking to go somewhere hot then Egypt would be good bad u can get a good deal there as well.

Mexico is safe we had security 24/7 so you never worry about your safety.

You can get good deals for Mexico as well.

We both way to go to Mexico for our honeymoon as we both loved it when we last went but we are going to wait until after the wedding until we decide as you can get really good deals close to the date you are going xx

As you're not sure where you'd like to go, check out Thomas Cook's website: if you pop in your dates, departure airport, and length of stay, it comes up with loads of results, then narrow it down by selecting 4 and 5* properties and all inclusive; if you then sort in price highest-lowest, the higher-end ones will come up first.

There are loads of REALLY nice ones in Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey, with good Trip Advisor reviews, for £700-900 pp for a week; you're spoilt for choice.

However, I've not found anything for Mexico; if you'd like to go to Mexico it might be worth going to a travel agent in person, or, contact a company like Caribbean Warehouse/Caribbean Collection as they specialise in Mexico, DR etc, and should be able to come up with something in your budget (they have a bigger selection of hotels and airlines, so can tailor-make a package within budget)
