What kind of themes are you meant to chose for the tables at the wedding breakfast? I don't know where to even start thinking about what to call the tables?!
Can someone please give me some pointers?
Thanks

I thought of naming them after different flowers or gemstones.....
Ours will be named after a selection of significant places from Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Everquest 2. Geek alert!!!

you could name the tables like
1. teal 2. rings 3. rose (or whatever flower you have) all things to do with your wedding

I was thinking this rather than just numbers, A friend used places in Oz as she met her hubby whilst they were touring for a year out there. We both like going to Isle of Man fo rthe TT races so may use that, but there's nothing else related to that happening in the wedding so will be a bit bizarre. We both work at the same place but in different departments so might be something work related.

We got married at a motor & avaition museum so we named our tables after some iconic British plaes and exhibits at the venue

Our wedding is a french bohemian, victorian storybook theme. Focused mainly on the Wonderland tale so we're thinking about naming tables after Wonderland characters. Making them match the people on the table (Cheshire cat for the smilers, etc) or naming the tables after songs meaning the people have to dance if it's played haha. (Idea we got from a thread on here) X

Our whole theme is black white and red roses so i wanted something to reflect this! So i looked on a rose site and found some names for red roses which to be honest were AWFULL lol so anyway I came across another site called romantic rose names which has some brillant ones so this is where im getting my table names from then there will also be a picture of the actuall rose on the card too hehehe

we are using places, the places that are important to us as a couple. we have included little descriptions about why each one is sentimental too, so for example our top table will be:
Roath Park
The park in Cardiff where Jon and Gem first officially met whilst she read Harry Potter and he ate an ice cream (no change there then!) …Five years later Jon then took Gem back to the very same spot proposed to her and she couldn’t stop crying! Happy Tears of course!
We are hoping this will make people smile and be a conversation starter on some tables. A nice little touch.

Thank you all for your help and ideas... I have had one idea, both Danny and I were born in March and are both Pisces, so we could do things that relate to the birth month of march...
Jonquil (the march birth flower also known as Dafodil)
The colours of the Jonquil - White, Yellow, Orange
The Meanings of the flower - Friendship, Domestic Happiness, Romantic etc...
Do think this could work?

Our colour scheme is after my second favourite flower, Iris's, so it's yellow and purple - although we're going for a darker purple, a Cadbury purple - so this has lead on to us having a bit of a chocolate theme as it's the colour of a twirl wrapper that we're having! So tables are going to be named after different types of Cadbury's chocolate and then have a couple of bars in our favour buckets that we're doing :-) x

I was thinking of having gem stones eg, ruby, saphire etc but my h2b came up with movie titles from our fave films!

We are having places of where we first dated for example: Top table Halfway House; Table 1 Looe Bay; Table 2 The Rock; Table 3 The Green Cafe; Table 4 The Crown; Table 5 Notter Bridge; Table 6 Gala.
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Our tables are being named after significant dates in our relationship, which I've never heard of anyone doing before so it's really unique. So we're having our wedding date, engagement date, date our daughter was born, date we got our own place, date our relationship started etc...
ClareE - my grandma lives in Laxey, so I've spent a lot of time in the Isle of Man - lovely place x

as our wedding has a slight fijian theme, we're using words like, love and laugh and family, but written in fijian, with translation on the bottom! :) x

Our theme is nature so the tables are named according to something to do with nature (kind of) and then have a centrepiece and place cards matching the name. We have tree, birds, daisy, heart(the hearts are made from wood) and apple. Do you have a theme yet? It's a lot easier to think of something if you have a theme for the day.
I like your idea of the daffodil, maybe you could have a small card on the table explaining how it is the flower for march etc. x
CommentAuthorSijen
Our table names are the only thing that's totally not related to the wedding...we're both big music fans and go to a lot of gigs so our tables are names of our favourite bands we have seen together repeatedly; Foo Fighters / U2 / Bon Jovi / Level 42 (his band) / Stereophonics / Genesis (his band again) / Oasis. Si's in charge of the design of the table plan so is making mini cd's / album covers for the table plan.
10 years together...

I'm walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of tale as old as time, so H2b had the idea of using Disney Princesses and their Princes as our theme. SO excited! I originally wanted couples from Shakespeare, as I'm a proper Eng Lit geek but h2b had no idea who half of them were!
We've settled for:
Aladdin and Princess Jasmine
Princess Ariel and Prince Eric
Princess Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Simba and Nala (LOL)
Belle and Prince Adam
Aurora and Prince Phillip
Cinderella and Prince CHarming
Duchess and Thomas O'Malley.

We're having names of bands/singers who we've been to concerts together too! We're proper 80's/cheesy pop fans though so it's like Take That, Kylie, Michael Buble, Boy George, Jason Donovan, Duran Duran etc & I've kept loads of the concert tickets so we'll use them too :) x

mrs clarke 2b - love your table names. i'd love to do disney but h2b is less keen! xx
CommentAuthorMagicFairies
i'm now thinking i might name tables with short love- related quotes (haven't checked with h2b yet though!) possible some along the lines of:
"Kisses are a better fate than wisdom." - e.e. cummings "No road is long with good company" - Turkish proverb "A career is a wonderful thing, but you can’t snuggle up to it at night." - Marilyn Monroe
would love to know what you all think about this. is it too long and fussy? xxx

We're naming ours after special songs to us. We're also getting some conversation starter cards to leave on each table - between the questions on them and the song names we're hoping it will warm people up to each other as we have a fairly disjointed bunch who don't know each other well
