OMG Nic we had SOOOO much go wrong! neil got into a fender bender with some guy. his car got written off two days before the wedding. we had NO car for going away on minimoon. I was ill the wednesday night. we got married on the friday. Neil was ill on the Thursday night and the fire alarm kept going off all night too so he hardly slept. The day of the wedding house keeping came to kick myself and the wedding party out of the room we were getting ready in even tho we'd booked it for 2 nights. we had NO windows in our room so had to wedge the bedroom door open so the bridesmaids and i could come and go as needed. the MOH went to sort out our room (house keeping said we only had it for one night) and was standing at reception with hair and make up done but in her PJ's! only to be told that we had booked the room and that it was housekeepings error and when the member of staff went to re activate the key card the machine broke! and after the wedding the hotel lost all our decorations. cocktail glasses, mirrored plates and candle holders. not impressed at all.
so be prepared ladies! but please don't let it spoil your day! xx

I think we were really lucky because it was all fab. The biggest problem I guess was the snow but even then the majority of people made it without a problem.
However, something I learnt on my hen do and definitely follows through to the wedding... make sure all your mates/family grab you for photo ops whenever they can. It's no good you going around to everyone because your too busy so make sure you tell your friends in advance if you want pics with them to make sure they come to you!

another tip.... put a disposable camera ( dont go 4 a cheap make tho) on each table and tell them to leave them behind 4 u!

Also, I actually only ended up going to the loo once all day which was great but if you have a big dress the best way is to sit on the toilet backwards like you are riding a horse. I'd read it somewhere - probably on here so I thought I would try it. It was the first thing we did as husband and wife lol it was hilarious but worked really well!

It's coming up to nearly 6 months since I got married but here are a few wee tips from my wedding:
1. Be prepared to be in the limelight once you leave the house, my parents neighbours were snap happy with their cameras when I came out to get ready for the car arriving and then when we got to the church our wedding photographer nearly leapt on me the minute I opened the door.
2. Take bottles of water with you in the wedding car as its thirsty work saying your vows then standing for some time getting photos taken especially if its really warm weather.
3. Make sure to take a break from your guests when you get the opportunity as I went up to my hotel room between arriving at the hotel and the meal being ready so that I could freshen up, go to the loo and catch my breath, that 15 minutes really did help and made me mentally prepared for the next part of the wedding day.
4. If your feet are hurting with standing for so long or you struggle with heels then its defo a good idea to take slippers, flip flops or flat shoes for the evening for the dancing. My hubby Paul changed his sporran to a sheep sporran that I had made similiar to Gromit for a laugh and I put on my sheep slippers. They were so comfy that I managed to dance the evening away and was hardly off the dancefloor. I did get a few comments about them but most were about how cute they looked.
5. If you arent going to have much alcohol (I was driving the next day) make sure you drink water or soft drinks to keep hydrated.
6. Try and find time to go round the tables in the evening and speak your guests, I did as some of them I hadnt met previously from Pauls side and they really appreciated the effort and enjoyed meeting me.
7. Try and get to bed soon after your wedding finishes. Ours finished just after midnight but we ended up chatting to guests who were staying in the hotel and didnt get to bed til 2.30am. We paid for it the next day as we were so exhausted and breakfast was eaten in a sleepy daze!
26th December 2007 - the day I met my special man
8th August 2008 - the day he was mad enough to propose to me
24th July 2010 - the day I felt beautiful inside and out and
became Mrs Dickie for life. xx

thanks so much for all the tips; somthing my mum has passed down to me; SMOKERS; hang the expence and buy tailour made ciggarettes [and lots of them] for the day, esp if you're wearing faulse nails. You'll be busy, with no time to roll, and you'll have shakey hands as well. Trust me, buy a box or two lolz <3 x

1) scuffing your shoe soles up is a must, especially if your dad doesn't do his either! 2) no matter how much you drink, you will not get drunk but you also won't finish a glass of anything all day 3) leave time for chatting with guests, they are there to see you anyway (in other words don't plan every second) 4) have time for just you the night before, to take a breath and relax 5) disappear for 15 mins with hubby, even if it is just for a glass of water and a wee (backwards on a toilet is genuinely best)
My one big one is
6) don't stress. The guests will be relaxed and enjoy their day if they can see the bride and groom are happy

One tip re shoes: once you're sat at the table, during the reception, take your shoes off!!! You're not going anywhere so you may as well have comfort before you have to mingle again.
I had a big dress but going to the loo backwards isn't necessity, just make sure you get help when you do go lol. I took my bridesmaid, mother in law and aunty with me. One of them even had the cheek to borrow husband's camera phone and took a pic of me on the loo with the dress round me - nice lol. One big tip though - if there is one, use the disabled toilet - far more room in the cubicle to move around with the dress!!!
