I BOOKED MY VENUE AT MY LOCAL FOOTBALL GROUND ALL PAID FOR AND BEEN BOOKED 2 YEARS ... I GOT A PHONE CALL OFF MY NAN SAYING DO U KNOW THERES A FOOTBALL MATCH THAT DAY ONLY A FRIENDLY THE CATERING MANGERS NEVER CONTACTED ME TO INFORM ME ... I WENT DOWN IN PERSON LAST FRIDAY AND TO BE TOLD OHH EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE .. THEN MONEY I RECEIVE A PHONE CALL OFF THE CATERING MANGER SAYING U CANT HAVE THE ROOM U HAVE BOOKED DUE TO MATCH DAY REGULATIONS MMM I WAS FUMING UP SET THINKING OHHH GOD WHAT IAM I GOING TO DO MUM RANG THEM AND BALLED THEM OUT ON THE PHONE DIDNT GET NO JOY SO I RANG THEM TOLD THEM I WANT A FULL REFUND OF WHAT WE HAVE PAID ... EVENTUALLY I DID GET MY FUNDS BACK AND A HAPPY ENDING

Massive WTF?! Seriously? How can they do this? You had a contract etc., surely? Glad you got your money back, but tbh, that's really besides the point. YEH I HAVE MANAGED TO GET ANOTHER VENUE BUT ITS A SMALLER ROOM BUT THE OWNERS ARE VERY NICE AND COULDNT HELP ME ENOUGH THEY BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO HELP ME AND SAVED 500 POUND AND MANAGED TO EVEN PUT ARRIVAL DRINKS ON WHICH COST ME 40 POUND THE GOLF CLUB IS NICE JUST A GOOD JOB I FOUND SOME WHERE OR IT WOULD BE FISH N CHIPS HAH AND A PINT LOL

Lol clive. I'd demand compensation- take it to the papers otherwise, what a disgrace three weeks to the big day and doing that to you- surely there has to be something more besides refund that they owe you? As pointed out, your guests have to be informed of change of venue, you have to settle for smaller and not what you wanted and have been planning and dreaming of for 2yrs. I'd make the biggest fuss ever and tell them that they need to get their lawyers to come to an appropriate sum to cover your stress, loss and additional costs. So you've saved 500, you've also been given the biggest load of stress 3weeks before big day and it's not good enough. What if you'd been unable to find new venue???!!! xx

Makes me wonder what would have happened if your nan hadn't told you about the match! You'd have all turned up to be shuffled off to another room. So glad you got your money back , but I for one wouldnt have wanted the hassel this close to your wedding.....I know you had no choice but how horrible to have to have that stress. Was you able to contact all your guests about the new venue?

Typical football club mentality. NEVER ever choose a football club or rugby club particularly local ones as a venue for everything, the football ALWAYS takes over and surprisingly always seem to have something going on alongside the date you have booked it. If you went ahead you would probably have footballers coming in and helping themselves to the buffet1!!! They really are that bad.

thank goodness you found another venue, you really don't need the stress i would contact the citizen's advise and ask them if they think you are entitled to compensation, get a good honeymoon out of them that way, they are out of order and breaching there contract with you that you have had in place with them for 2 years and 3 weeks before the wedding they ring you! i mean WTH!?!?!?!
