We changed the date of our wedding about a month ago, due to me being pregnant. When i spoke to the venue they said the date we wanted was fine and we could go ahead, so I then spent the rest of the day ringing around our other suppliers changing the dates!

Today I got a phone call from the wedding co-ordinater at our venue saying that the girl who took the call hadn't checked the diary correctly and in fact someone had already taken that day!! I was gutted and very annoyed, so have spent the day ringing everyone again to re arrange dates. Fortunalty we haven't lost any money, just a pain having to change everything over and over again!!!

That is really bad of them to do that. I would be livid if they had done that to me. Its good that you haven't lost any money but a right pain in the backside to have to ring everyone again.

trouble is they will ask for for proof that you have paid money out ....and then thier get out will be that you shouldnt have phoned round until you had confirmation in writing

this happenend to my cousin she booked and payed £500 deposit for a friday in july 2011 this was dec 2009 then rang a few months later and asked if the sat was free instead they said yes and switched the deposit to the sat then arranged with the church to swap dates. last month she went for a meeting to be told there was no booking on any of the dates as whoever they spoke to cancelled the friday but forgot to book her fot the sat then they booked both dates up so when she finally found out there was nothing they could do but find another venue. worse part is they refused to give her back her money shes been told shes allowed to go for a meal in the venues resturant on the friday thats it what a rip off.

omg mrsb2b i would be making a complaint in writing to the venue, and to the OFT, Financial Ombudsmen or trading standards, surely they cant do that

mrsb did your cousin have a contract in place with them telling her the confirmation of dates etc because if she has and they're not honoring the deposit refund based on their obvious error i'd speak to someone

mrsquinn - i take it you have a date sorted out now hun x
