My dad has a family friend who we have known for years and years yes she has been better than the aunties and uncles and brought use present etc..but shes the type of lady that always has to be one better.. she has a daughter who is a bit simple and has had everything done by her mother even now, she has severe diffculties and its not her fault and i understand that shes about 29 who is the same age has my sister and throughtout growing up she copied my sister no end....and guess what i just got engaged and suprise surpise so has her daughter....dont get me wrong im sure this lady is calculated...but whats really pis*ed me off is that ive had my engagment party booked for about 2 months now and shes only gone and told everyone that her daughters enegagment party is the day after...now that sounds to me like she wants her daughter to overshadow me....i swear if she copies anything anything like im having in my wedding i will go crazy...ive already told my dad shes not invited and although my dad has said shes done alot for us over the years i no she will moan and just copy everything.....grrrr i needed to vent

i can understand why you are annoyed. just dont tell her any important details and i am sure it will be fine. even if she did come to your wedding wouldnt all her daughters plans already be in place so she wouldnt be able to copy you xx

i know you have said the daughter relies on her mum but does she not have her own mind when deciding on everything for her big day?

Your in a hard boat. Is their no way you can try and keep everything a secret, just tell all us on here :D lol , so that nothing can get copied. It would be a shame not to invite her if she has helped out your family quite a bit.
I do see it from your side of things as well - but if yours is first, her daughters will just be a copy of yours, it will not bring down your day any- just her daughters. So many problems over weddings only earlier their was a post saying how the wedding dresses matched and she was scared because of it.
Just Relax and plan your day, their is little to no reason for her to find out any of your wedding plans, and if your dad is like mine and likes to boast about what we have or want then you can go down one of three paths 1. dont tell him anything 2. tell him the wrong colours or 3. say you will give in as long as nothing is said to her about the wedding.

At the end of the day it is your choice on who goes, so please dont think you must invite her, im just trying to help see if their is an alternative where all can be happy - if their isn't then do what makes you happy.

nahhh its a little bit unfortunate for her daughter she has got alot of learning difficulties etc and therefore is resticited to what she can do for work etc....this is her first proper boyfirned who is also of the same mind...me personally im all for people living indepdnadntly but i cant see how they would live together alone anyway they would need a lot of help...and i feel so sorry for her daughter she didnt ask to be like that....but her mother is just push push push..and like i say she aways had what my sister had...and now because im gettin married im sure its becus of the mother pushing them to it...its quite sad really

that is quite sad. as it is her first proper boyfriend it may not work out but it is upsetting that the mum is deciding everything-or copying you xx

I'm much more impressed by a debt free wedding than people who spend the rest of their married life in debt just to pay the whole thing off. Don't tell them anything about your day then they can't copy you at all. You don't need money to make a wedding special anyway and its about time she kept her opinions about your finances to herself as it is none of her business how much you have or how you choose to spend it.

I know a woman like this, to copy my life she has. ...
gotten engaged within a week of her finding our about me
chosen my dress two weeks after asking about mine
decided to have a hotel reception followed by a bbq after party the following week for those unable to attend like me
    chosen my colour scheme

This is where it gets wierd...
she named her son Alexander James, my sons older and is called Xander James!

sounds like the mother doesnt have any ideas of her own that why they will have to copy why dont u invite them to a couple of wedding fairs then say to them so u can get ur own ideas for ur daughters wedding and just dont give them any idea on what ur wedding is going to be like xx

Or failing that tell them one thing and do something different, mislead them a little.

if its the day after hopefully she will be too busy to copy anything as she wont have time in 24 hours. DONT tell her ANYTHING at all about it and if your dad wants her there then fine but also make sure you reveal no details about your wedding as that is obviously even more important. You will have to play it clever with this one.
