Just got back from my meeting with my venue. I'm having my ceremony and reception there.

I'm having chair covers for the ceremony and assumed we can just move the chairs upstairs to the reception room after the ceremony. Which we can but our venue charges £1 per chair to move them! So that's an extra £68 at best. I was really shocked. Has anyone else come across this?

That's the other lady who replied. She said she had a letter about security? I'm not sure though.

I was stunned to be honest. It just sounds ridiculous to me. I'd rather move them in my dress than pay. When you think how much money they must make from a wedding as well

We dont personally need bouncers. The Hotel said in the letter that theyve had a lot of health and safety issues and due to previous events they now require security to make sure the day is safe and enjoyable. Long as I see them Im not too bothered!

Possibly. It's just extra faffing about for someone to do. My chair covers are only costing £1 each to hire so it would cost the same to have more chairs but it's the time that setting up an extra 68 chairs would take on my wedding morning. In my head i cant get over the fact that them moving chairs will cost more than my days wages!

Sounds like you will have a laugh doing it yourselves but I would tell the hotel that your going to move them and I wonder if they will forget about the charge.

We have to pay for security at our wedding but only after 6:30pm but that's because we're getting married in a zoo so I can understand the reasons.

tell the hotel that you will organise moving them yourselves, because your budget is very tight, however due to the fact the hotel is forcing you to do this, that they will be held responsible for any accidents that may occur from this. And as a hotel that has a seperate room on a different level that its unacceptable not to have in place a system. Not many places charge for that, and i cant see why its an issue to move a few chairs

we have to pay £75 admin to bring our own DJ into our venue and also another £75 admin for bringing in our own chair covers - the price we are paying for the chairs covers from someone else and the £75 admin is still cheaper than paying the company the hotel use so we have still saved but the DJ the hotel uses we have had reports that he isnt very good so we have booked our own which is more expensive than the hotel DJ but i think its important to have a good DJ xx

Holey moley! It's absolutely outrageous what they get away charging you with! I can almost just about in a very begruding way understand corkage charges, but to charge to bring in your own DJ under the guise of an 'admin fee' is absurd...! I dunno who invented the concept of an admin charge.. it's the most ridiculous excuse of garnering extra money ever.
