Hi Girls, I just want to know your thoughts on the after due. We can't afford a big wedding Its registary office for us. And we can't afford to pay for a posh venue or food for everyone. So we were thinking get married at the registary office and then just head off on our honeymoon (were ever that may be). Do you think thats a bad idea? I mean we just dont have the money to do much else. To pay for the honeymoon were asking to have travel vouchers instead of wedding gifts. But i don't want it to look rude saying in want this ect. Ahh i'm soo confused im not sure what to do!! I need help :-( xxx

Hi Kate...how about having a bar b que after just so everyone can get together and have a small celebration it doesnt have to be anything fancy but then you get to have a reception type thing then you could leave around tea time ish and then everyone else can sort themselves out xx

Yeah that sound like a good idea, although our place wouldn't be big enough. I could always try a pub or something i guess. Thanks xx

Hey, Were having a registry Office then off to a nice country pub, where there is a function room upstairs not open to the public(free btw) we are decorating it ourselves and having a simple buffet where the guests buy their own drinks :) xx

Most pubs would prob lay on a small buffet best plan is to ring around so you can get a good idea of prices, we arent having a big lavish affair either as this is my second wedding but we are having a church and then hireing the village hall with outside caterers coming in to do the sit down meal for 40 then a buffet in the evening I had set a max budget of £5000 and so far I havent even reached £3000 and everythings nearly sorted out,its amazing how much stuff you can get on a 'well know auction site' everything in my pictures has come from there and I've got some lovely things, you dont have to spend a fortune to have a fabulous day...and this was confirmed even more when I went to a wedding last weekend in a posh hotel which cost a fortune, the room was drab, the food wasnt very nice ie. grit in the soup, hard roast potatoes, bits of plastic in the cheesecake the list goes on lol...just shows money doesnt buy perfection and doing it yourselfs makes it even more special in my opinion xx
I didnt think of that. Hmm i shall have to have alook around Swansea and see what i can find on my tight budget! xx

Our budget is £1500 and that includes a night in a hotel and the dress :)
It's easily done :)
Our venue starts their food per head from £5 each and they provide table cloths and napkins etc :) xx

Try places like sports clubs, british legion, conservative/labour clubs, and town hall building they are all usually cheap to hire and some have bars so you dont need to get outside ones in...how much is your budget if you dont mind me asking? x

Were saving money in loads of other ways too like i am going to wear my mums wedding ring and my h2b has got his own made. im making my dress, my dads making my cake ect so saved money there. The biggest expense was the after due but if there are cheaper options out there i am deffo willing to look! xx

thats a good idea or you could get a pub and make it clear that every1 is paying 4 their own food and drink. our budget is limited. we are getting married in a registry office as well at 4pm straight on 2 our reception venue where its a buffet. my mil and fil are paying 4 the 1st drinks so im getting some sort of token system 4 exchange 4 1 drink that way people dont take advantage. do what ever you feel is right for the both of you x

My budget is about £2000 at max and that would be pushing it. My dad is retired so doesnt have the money to pay towards it and my h2bs family dont have the money either so we are having to pay for everything. x

Awwww never worry huni you can have a fab wedding on £2000 you've come to the right place, you could always have a small intimate close family wedding ceromony then go for a meal in a pub then hire a hall for a evening reception so all your friends and other family can come along, my hall is only costing £125 from the fri night so we can go in and decorate till 12pm on the sat altho we dont take the keys back till sun morn, the disco's only £100 they aredoing the bar for free as they said they make money on drinks at weddings and a buffet for 100 is costing roughly £350, the decorations for the hall have come in at about £60, seems like you have already saved yourself alot with help from people so your well on your way :-) xx

Wow if i found a place like yours that would save us loads and would give us money to put towards the honeymonn :-) thank you so much for your advise, i could do with my own personal wedding planner that way there would be no stress for me haha get someone else to deal with it lol. All i'd have to do then is turn up on the day :-p xx
