We're gonna start trying soon after the wedding hopefully. Can't wait to become a mummy!
Arrr its crazy...i have a 3 yr old who was totally unplanned and unexpected such a big shock when we first found out...we struggled at first i wont lie it was hard financially initially i went back 2 work part time but was really struggling so had to start full time again. I think your better off being on benefits these days i know people who are living in a new build 3 bedroomed house which is massive, getting their rent and council tax paid, free college course and free nursery places for kids nursery it a joke......i have to pay nearly £500 a month for nursery fees, luckily my employer is paying for my college course and i still have rent and council tax to pay the system is a joke sorry 4 moan x

CommentAuthorNishaVyas88
Absolutely not- neither of us are ready for kids. Also I'm trying to get into professional dance so its not the right time for us to have kids (financially as well). We're not planning on having children for another 4 or 5 years.

We are :) I'm feeling broody reading this now but we already have a son - Liam - who's a great wee person and generally well-behaved - cant imagine trying to look after a newborn on our wedding day! Going to come off the pill about a month before the wedding - took us only 6 weeks to conceive Liam, I dont expect it to be that quick again but hopefully it wont be much longer! If baby number 2 isnt in on board by my 31st birthday though it'll be a new car for me and new toys for Liam instead lol x

Can i just insult your intelligence (or be helpful if you don't already know lol) but as a midwife can i just point out that the ideal way to plan a baby is to come off the pill 3 months prior to conception and start taking folic acid at the same time. (and a good idea to start taking pregnancy multivitamins too prior to conception) It might not effect baby's development still being on the pill just before conception but might affect things like blood pressure in pregnancy and things like that so especially if theres any family history of anything like that then i would reccomend trying to get the pill out of your system for a bit first if u can. (not always realistic i know and my little girl wasn't planned either but luckily i wasnt on the pill as my partner had spent the last 8 months in afghan) sorry if this seems like a pointless post but might be helpful to some people and at end of the day i know you mums will all be doing your best to have a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby :-D Good luck xx
oh and am not trying straight away as we are on holiday at end of year and also not sure when to concieve as he's in afghan again next year so would probably spend most of pregnancy alone so i dont know what to do!! in an ideal world i would start trying foir 2nd baby about 3-4 months after wedding but with afghan looming i just dont know :-(
CommentAuthorKimmie.Bride.to.be
I wish. I really want to but h2b doesnt want a baby while he is in the raf, and doesnt come out for another 3 years. Give it a year or so and a bit of pursuasion! lol. I wouldnt mind if he went away for short amounts of time whilst the baby was very small, it would just be when the baby is more responsive and knows whats going on that it would be awful for him to go away. I think we are going to try during his last year of service. They're my plans anyway! So desperate for children, its my life long dream :)

I already have 2 daughters and we have talked about having 1 together. But wont be trying straight away i have spent 7 years bringing up children i want to get out and have a job and have some time for me before having another. I have already said to H2B i wouldnt be giving up work again though i have spent the last few years working towards my degree i want to make some use of it. WE will probably end up waiting a few years our main priority is saving for deposit for a house of our own.
Going to become Mrs Stockman

Good shout mrsc - always good to have an expert about! God I remember taking the pregnancy multivitamin thing when I'd just found out - the big brand one with omega 3 included. Had terrible morning (all day) sickness and felt like I could taste fish! Now I know I couldnt actually taste it but it was something in it was making me worse... boak! x

We are going to have at least a year of being husband and wife.. I am not that keen on children at the moment but know H2B wants them so will give it a year and see what happens
CommentAuthorlollilou
Not me, we have a 8 year old son and a 11 year old daughter so I'm done with the baby making also too old now at 46. Sometimes my h2b talks about it but only to wind me up! xx
CommentAuthorSheWolf
When we get married we'll be 23 and 27. I think the likelihood is that we'll start trying after 2 years so I'll be 25 and well... at the moment if we had a child, he'd have to stay at home because I earn more and we'd like it to be so that I could stay at home.

We havent started trying for another one and dont have any intentions on trying for another (already have 2 girls).Im hopefully starting college again in sept so dont want anything getting in the way of that. Oh and laura, I couldnt agree more with your post. We are exactly the same, have to struggle through every day. We are the only people in our block of flats that have to pay our rent, everyone else gets it paid for them coz they dont work. Make me very angry!
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!

well we're getting married in the September and we're planning on having our proper honeymoon in the Jan/Feb of the following year, so we're going to try for a honeymoon baby! Also gives me time to get the pill out my system and just enjoy being married for a little while as well.
Also we're thinking of going to Cuba for our honeymoon and I don't want to be pregnant whilst we're there - I want to drink Mojito's!!!
CommentAuthorPaula
We already have 4 so no more for us x

Thanks for that MrsC2be! :0) Do you know if you can take folic acid if you have a problem with B vitamins? They tend to make me vomit (hope none of you are eating your tea and reading this!) but i'd want to do things 'properly'!
Can't wait to be married!

Not straight away - ideally 1-2 years after we get married, but who knows :-)

I've a daughter, he's got a son and we've had a daughter and son together so no not a chance, getting too old for it anyway!
WARNING:
I say the first thing I think of!
CommentAuthorCarrieanne
We are hoping to start trying on the night of the wedding! We've number crunched and like most cannot afford it but we will manage. If we wait until we can afford it, we will be too old. I've had a messy divorce behind me and the time was never right, I want to have kids with my h2b and sieze life while the getting is good.
Can't wait to start our little clan!
CommentAuthorRoxy
We will not be 'trying' persay but after the wedding we won't be using contraception, just going to let nature run it's course. We already have a beautiful daughter so we're in no hurry, but we would love for another one to come along :)
CommentAuthorLaura
MrsC - i got caught out whilst on the pill.....so therefore didnt take any folic acid or multi vits prior to my pregnancy...
I had a really good pregnancy and my daughter was born 4 days after my due date and i was only 6 hours in labour. Didnt have any blood pressure issues so i dont believe in all that 2bh and my daughter is a healthy bouncy 3 year old xx
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Well said Carrieanne - there's never a 'right time'. It took H2B and me a long time, heartache, and a very traumatic labour/delivery to get our little girl, and we are so skint it's daft, but we wouldn't have it any other way - she's our world! x
CommentAuthorhattie89
We won't quite yet. I'm only 22 and H2B isn't ready yet. I'd like to start trying in 4 or 5 years, as I want our first before I'm 30 (by which point H2B will be 36).
CommentAuthorUnknown
that was the plan but then h2b said he wanted to wait until jan next year. i have now come of the coil but we are waiting until next year.
but at the moment i want to live in a bigger place by the time we have kids xx
CommentAuthorYourFirstDanceBride
We haven't started yet because we want to go on a couple more fancy holidays first and don't want a baby to do that for 2 reasons: We cant afford a baby and a holiday! and I do not fancy taking a baby on a long haul flight!
But secretly I am starting to get a bit broody and even though I know we are better to wait and I do want to wait, if it happened now it wouldn't be the end of the world. Still taking the pill though.
CommentAuthorMrsC2b
Laura i wasn't having a go at anyone, many people get caught on the pill and have no problems and vice versa. But sometimes it could cause problems so if people are "planning" babies i wanted to give the right advice out. Like i said i would have maybe got caught on the pill if my OH hadn't been in afghan for 8 months before so i had come off it months earlier and we definitly weren't trying. btw i didnt start taking folic acid until i found out either and my daughter is beautifully healthy etc so am really not getting at anyone i promise! It's all about individual circumstances really but i believe if your gonna actually plan a baby then you might as well do it the reccomended way. if your gonna do something so important you wanna know you have done as best u could e.g. me starting taking folic acid when i knew i was pregnant...not as ideal as 3 months 3 concepually but the best that i could do as i wasnt trying and the pregnancy was a surprise!
and as for those asking about taking folic acid etc i would reccomend goin to see your GP because i wouldnt wanna comment on individual circumstances and although its more than safe to take for majority of women it's always a good idea to speak to GP as i wouldnt know your full medical history etc. it's reccomended starting to take folic acid and just been as healthy as possible cutting down on smoking etc 3 months before u start trying if thats an option. Not always an option but basically if you do have the option of making yourself as healthy as possible for 3 months before trying then why the hell wouldn't ya :-)
Also if your actually planning a baby then it might be worth getting a quick health check from the GP anyway...they can put you in touch with places and give you your multivitamins and folic acid if you have a nice GP lol!
Happy trying :-)
CommentAuthorEnny
MrsC2b thanks so much for the advise finding it useful, i knew about folic acid and the vitamins but only when it was to late... also stoppt smoking when i found out... might have been to late all of that for me or might have been to much stress at work for me... as i tried all but all only when i found out but only to find out 2months later that i had a miscarriage for the next time i'm definitely have it the planned way and prepare myself as much as i can thanks for those information! xx
