it's an american thing really...I *might* do one, an xbox 360, if I am allowed. I would have made the wedding cake but got told off as it's "tradition" for his mum to make it...well, saves me the stress, but she'll only do fruit. If I make one it'll be some flavoured sponge

    Groom's cake

A groom's cake is a wedding tradition typically associated with the American South. While a wedding cake may often be decorated in white and light in texture and/or color, the groom's cake can take a variety of forms, many incorporating chocolate or fruit. Cheesecake sometimes serves as a groom's cake. The groom's cake is often served at a separate table from the wedding cake at a wedding reception, though it may be served as a dessert for a rehearsal dinner.

Never even heard of it until I read an American site! A wedding cake is expensive enough without a second one. Plus we were left with loads of wedding cake!

Oh never realised it was an american thing. My friend had a cake made for her husband as the wedding cake was chocolate and he wanted fruit cake so she had one made just for him and suprised him on the day. It was a lovely touch and if you did decide to do it can have it decorated in something that is personal to him like his favourite football team.

I bet you didnt know that the turkey that people seem to have as tradition for there xmas dinner is actually an american tradition it only came an english thing in the last couple hundred years. Traditionally it was pork, beef or pigeon/pheasant.

Just my useless fact for the day lol
