We started roughly getting ideas together for tables about a few months ago but now I really want to start finalising, as its going to take us about 4 weeks to agree! I am so confused some people stick to crazy traditions like couples should sit on the same table but not next to each other, you cant mix up families/friends.....but there is no way round it I am going to have to do both of the above to fit everyone in!! Any one else going through the stress of table plans?! x

I have planned mine similar to Mrs Mann has mentioned. The only point my step-dad made was that we are having a long 3 hour sit down meal (including speeches) is so hard sitting next to someone you don't really like or not being sat with your partner so i am going to stick to trying to keep couples together and keep family groups together so at least people are relaxed and comfartable with who they are with xxx

I put families together and groups of friends as much as I could, I never done a proper seating plan though, they just sat on the table where they wanted to sit.

I did a list of people per table, and so didn't have the stress of sitting them boy-girl-boy etc - also saved a job of having to do place names, just had to number the tables :-)
There is no way round it but I am going to have to have one tables with a mix of cousins from both sides and two close family friends! Oh well!

Bridalmiss, my thoughts exactly. There would be no way I could have evened any of the tables out so thought they can sort themselves out.

When we got married we had just me, my husband, best man and my grandad on the top table as we were the ones doing speeches.
We then had 5 round tables - One for my family, one for his, one for my work friends, one for his and then a table for mutual friends (who all know each other) and it worked perfectly well. No akwardness that way of people being stuck on a table with others they didnt know.
We had 2 tables of 9/10, a table of 8 and 2 tables of 6 (i think) and it looked beautiful as the venue had different appropriate sized tables and seated them evenly.
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a

I had big stress. I had it perfect and then 2 unexpected guests had to be invited which there was physically no room for so we then decided to only invite my step dad's kids to the evening do, freeing up a whole table. I've just put mostly family and mostly friends on the same tables but on a couple there are some of our mutual friends with my cousins, and my friends and some of H2B's friends are on the same table. People have to sit next to people they don't know at weddings and I'm sure most people understand that it's almost impossible to sit everyone that know each other together x x

We will try and make sure that everybody knows at least one other couple on the table...it shouldn't be too hard because most odour guests are local and know each other. The only difficulty is going to be my family, I have a couple up from Wales, also a few odds and sods from work etc that won't know too many people.
However, I think h2b has his work cut out as some of his mates keep saying 'don't sit me at so and so's table, his missis is a pain' and so far Richard has agreed! We will be having twenty tables of two at this rate!

We have done ours with the people who we are going to invite. We have put all family together, friends together and just done it like that.
Ive also got 90% of my bridesmaids on the top table but my other bridesmaid wants to sit with her man so I dont mind that too much.
Cant wait until I become Mrs K

i am not doing a table plan. i am going to let people sit with who they want.on the top table there will be me, h2b and my daughter and probably the best man and that is it. i am still naming the tables but i will let them decide who sits where =)

I have also had a play around wit our guests and table plans. Its a hard one as my mums side dont really get on so ive split them all up and then my cousin has a medical condition so needs to be on a table closest to the door and preferably with only my 2 aunts and his fam. Ive kind of gone with the bridesmaids and best men and their partners on 1 table then seans family together and my family together with the odd mixed table.

it took me ages to do the table plan can't put sos and so with them lol, so I've done it thats where they are sitting if they don't like then they can rearrange themselves, just when I thought I had done it all I had guests telling me they couldn't make it last week after saying they could familys drive you mad i've split up large families with older kids like in their 2o's and tried to keep couples together it is a nightmare I can see why people don't bother with them and just do the top table

My tables are horrific! My mum and dad hate each other and I aren't particularly fond of my dad so its going to be difficult. We are thinking about having 3 tables per row so that H2b's family can split the two sides of mine. x
