Hi everyone, I'm a little confused and hope u can help me out? I'm gettin married in church and have a best man and flower girl. A few weeks ago I read on a wedding shop site that traditionally the flower girl or page boy carried the wedding rings on a ring cushion up the aisle. I thought it was a lovely idea especially as u tie the rings on with ribbon so the little ones don't have to worry about being too careful. I've ordered and recieved a cushion with a beautiful big tulle bow on and am really happy with it. However, I'm confused as to what happens with the rings when we reach the altar, isn't it the best man who gives the rings to the vicar? If so when does he untie them ready for when the appropriate time comes? Or is the flower girl supposed to keep them untill the exchanging of rings? Really haven't a clue, hope u can help me out!

You can have the page boy take them up or the best man. I would go on who you think is going to be the safest option.

There is no right or wrong answer but could be nice to have your flower girl give the ring cushion to the best man and then he can untie them and keep the rings on the pillow before giving them to the vicar xxx

Traditionally either a flower girl or page boy walk down the aisle with the ring cushion, they will then keep hold of it untill it comes for the time the best man needs the rings.. so the ring cushion is passed over, rings untied and then given to the vicar

If your getting married in a church you'll have a rehearsal and the vicar will tell you all about what the ring bearer has to do :-)

Our vicar gave us a good tip with regards to this. Have some one carry a ring cushion up the ailse but put 2 plastic rings on there, so you dont have to worry about them getting lost. Then the best man can keep hold of the real rings in his pocket until they are needed. Thats what we are going to do anyway,

Yes you can have fake rings on the cushion so it is symbolic. At a friends wedding they tied the rings on the cushion so tight so the kid would not lose them, the best man could not undo the knots and it was a right faff on! ha ha

Thanks everyone! Love the idea of the flower girl keeping them till the time comes for the best man to have them, only prob is, it'll be just our look for there to be a bloomin great knot in the ribbon, lol!! Trish, sounds lovely!! Anyway am going to see the vicar 2moz for the first time at 5:30. Perhaps will bring the issue up with him, if I remember along with everythin else!! Isn't it funny how the tinyest of details can be so troublesome! Thanx 2 all x

it's a good idea to have the fake rings on the pillow, takes the pressure off the little ones so they can enjoy there task rather than stress and you might get a cheeky couple of photo's out of the big grin on their face as their walking up the aisle :) x
