Wedding Forum - The best day of my life!...

Well we did it and it was perfect!

We had big problems with the marquee people the day before but after the boss man came down, it was all sorted. The day of the wedding, I got up at 6:50, had a half an hour bath and the started the massive task of setting up the marquee and the start of the tidying of the house - the house will still being renovated up until 12:00 yesterday! My parents have spent the year doing up their house so we could get married there! It was a huge task, but it looked perfect. My hair and make up person arrived at 8:00. At about 10:00 ish, whilst half made up, the best men arrived and got rather panicked because it was too light in the marquee for their projector, so I had to help them, then at 11:00 the DJ came and I had my first panic because the floor was too uneven for the place where he was meant to set up. So one of the best men and I had to rearrange the marquee! I remained unusually calm all morning. Just as we were going out the front door to the cars, someone came to the door to quiz us because he thought the house was empty, it hasn't been for a year. Then looked at me and asked if there was a wedding. Not really what I wanted just before going to church. We got to the church early and went to visit my grandma's grave as planned. We then had to wait in the lobby for the vicar to be ready for us. The service was brilliant, but the organist wasn't. Songs were played too slowly, the vicar had to tell the organist he needed to play another verse when he ended a song early and he didn't play the wedding tune as we left, but we didn't mind, it gave us a brilliant giggle and we've even asked the videographer to add the bits where we're in hysterics to our video . It was warm enough (well in our minds) to go back to the reception with the hood of the car back. We had lots of honks and waves. We then had lots of photos in the sunshine. When we went into the marquee to be seated, my husband stood on my dress and I nearly fell over, then as I went down to sit down, I missed the chair and ended up on the floor, both caught on film (and going in the video!) Food was amazing and the speeches were brilliant! We had to move tables before our first dance and the wedding organiser was not getting the hint, so I moved the chairs myself, with some help. She soon got the idea. The first dance was gone in a flash and soon we were dancing the night away. It was a perfect day and during it I was given my grandma's and my husband's grandma's rings, which is so special especially as I was born the day after my grandma died. It was such a magical day and being at my parent's home meant I was that much more relaxed, in fact, even now I can't believe how relaxed I was. I should have been all over the place, especially when things went wrong in jthe morning but I wasn't. I'm so glad we got a videographer in the end because I want to watch my day over and over again. Congratulations. Shame the organist messed up, but I'm glad it didn't spoil anything. Sounds like you were kept very busy before hand.
