As many of you may know my MIL is a pain in the 4rse and it seems that she likes to stir too!
We hadn't heard from a day guest. We were originally told that he was coming but his wife wasn't. Then MIL told us that as we hadn't heard from him to assume he wasn't coming.
I got H2B to ring the guest and make sure today and after a small disagreement (where he insisted that his mother had spoken to him and he wasn't coming and I insisted that he just check) he eventually did it.
The guest IS coming to the wedding AND the meal.
How embarrassing would that have been if we'd assumed he wasn't coming and he'd turned up and expected to be fed.
Apparently the guest had told MIL that he was coming. MIL didn't want us to invite him in the first place which leads me to wonder what she's playing at.

hmmmm, by what you have said in your post above, that certainly sounds a tad fishy! At least you know now, have a double check on anything else you have left her in 'charge' of.............just in case lol xxxx

That's really not good at all. Glad i don't have that problem.
Make sure that you double check everything that she tells you just to be sure as you don't want something like that to happen and go unnoticed

I think part of her problem is that she's not in charge of anything. Luckily.

oh right. well try to make her feel like she's involved somehow without giving her a direct role, this will make her feel like she has a role but you two have the control

Hmmmm that's more than a tad suspicious!!
Surely your MIL would realise that, had the guest turned up and all of this been discovered at your wedding you'd have been far more annoyed than finding out now! Error.... Xx

We would have noticed too as there's only 25 people at the wedding and 20 at the meal. She wanted us to invite her siblings but wasn't so keen on her dead husbands siblings being invited. And this from the woman who talks more Faaaahhmmly than Peggy Mitchel.
I think she has maybe underestimated how organised I am.
