Seriously, I'm going to punch my MIL2B one of these days. I've got more decorum in my little finger than that woman has in her entire body!!
The first plan was to try and upstage me on our wedding day. Ross had let slip that my dress was only £300 so then she launched this campaign to find something 3 times the cost with more glitz and glamour, then she got told in no uncertain terms by my FIL2B (I love that man so much!!) that she's had 2 turns at her wedding day, to stop being so petty and selfish and that there was absolutely no way anyone would manage to upstage the bride, so get over it :) Ross had a few choice words for her too. So yes, she gave up on that idea.
Next idea was to try upstage my mum, my mum's giving me away. Bless her, she's not what you'd call a 'petite' lady and doesn't have a lot to spend on her outfit so she's petrified she's going to show me up. I've told her not to be so silly, that secondary to me and Ross she's going to be the most important person in the church and she'll do a fab job and everyone will love her whatever. So MIL2B, being extraordinarily jealous that this 'dumpy pauper' is getting more limelight than her came up with the idea of walking Ross down the aisle, Ross said it wasn't happening and why couldn't she just accept that just once she doesn't have centre stage. Went on to remind her that it was OUR day, not hers and if she really thought anything of him then she'd pack it in. She started whining that she was 'only' MOG so no-one would notice her and she wasn't even getting to ride in the wedding car (ffs) Ross switched off and muttered something about her needing to grow up.
So she can't upstage me, she can't upstage my mum........we've now hatched a new plan. She's seen a dress that she loves, a formal white above the knee summer dress and it's 'perfect' for the wedding. White is bad enough, above the knee.......it's a wedding in a church, NOT a BBQ in her back garden but keeping in mind she'll be coming up for 53, she's slim but she's got varicose veins, wrinkles.......I've seen her in above the knee dresses and it isn't pretty (fact, not b itchery lol) The dress looks like it belongs on a nubile 18 year old, not a 53yo MOG :(
I'm sure she'll drop this latest plan, just dread to think what's next with her. To be honest, I don't care if she wears a bin bag, I just wish she'd quit this need to try to upstage us by showing herself up.
Getting so frustrated with her now - and it's not just with wedding stuff, she's trying to take over how I bring Squigglet up (who hasn't even arrived yet) she even wanted to have 'mummy' in her gran title, I DID blow my lid at that. Why oh why couldn't Ross have had a 'normal' mum instead of this fruit loop ;)

sounds like she is very jealous and immature and is all about her!!! best thing to do is ignore her..if she wantst go wearing a dress that ddoesnt suit her and makes her look ridiculous, let her..everyone will gather what kind of person she is and will ignore her too!!! let her throw her toys out the pram but end of the day she's gooin to make a big fool of herself

I really feel for you kerrylou, she sounds a nightmare. It is good that you have a supportive family around you as I think it would be enough to drive anyone mad. The thing is, she is just acting like a fool, and everyone can see it I am sure. White though, at your wedding, my gosh that makes me MAD! It's cheeky it really is. I think the best thing you can do is ignore her and take everything with a pinch of salt like you are doing, good on you for not letting her get to you too much. x

Aww hun no wonder your getting fed up with her but like becca said just be thankful that ross speaks his mind. She reminds me a bit of my ex mil it felt like there was 3 in my last marriage and it will only get worse if it isnt sorted now. No matter what she does she will never outdo u or your mum xxx

Thanks ladies! It never ceases to amaze me just how loving and supportive you all are :)
I'm desperately thankful that Ross speaks up to her, he's learnt he's got to really or else I really would punch her ;)
She is just throwing her dolly out and I do take it with a pinch of salt, just been one of those weeks where things have happened, I've not done what she expects me to do (because I have no mind of my own obviously lol) so she's yanking my chain over things. She IS showing herself up to the point where no-one is actually bothered about her tantrums now, for me it's just hassle I don't need - I'm living on my own with Honey, 18 weeks pregnant, planning a wedding, being stuck in the middle of some very real problems..........the last thing I need is her being a douchbag!!
Watch it - she'll turn up in black just to make sure we know we've upset her lol xxx

At least you can think about the fact that even if she does continue to try and upstage you, everyone else will just see her for her stupidity and think badly of her, which just means she has had an epic failure yes? :) That's always a nice thought......nast mil2b's having epic failures......not that I am mean ;)

How depressing that you can reach that age and still act like a 7 year old. I agree with CherryCoke. If she goes ahead with any of her ridiculous plans she will look just that - ridiculous. Whereas you will look beautiful, radiant and be the true centre of attention! x

Wow - she does really sound like the Mil from hell! What does occur to me though Kerrylou is that maybe she is just jealous of you! Your H2B and FiL2B sound great! It aslo sounds like they will make sure your day is fantastic whatever she does! As an observation it will probably annoy her more if you are extreamely calm about everything and show she cannot rattle you!!! Best of luck xx
