I know there are plenty of threads regarding thank you gifts but I would like this one going in another direction.

Girls lets brainstorm a bit about thank you gifts for the parents. Flowers are totally out of the question - our whole wedding is real flower free and I'd like to keep it that way. Also my mum (and dad) are flying in for the wedding - flowers are no use to her because she couldn't take them on the plane anyway.

I am never opposed to photogifts - but this is what I always do. My dad is a photographer and I give him always some fun photo related gift and if I don't do this he does it himself anyway (he had just their white cupboard photo wallpapered - lifesize h2b + me + child in lifesize - it's actually a bit creepy :-)). So just a frame won't do for me as a nice big present. And the typical photobooks I don't like.

    What are you doing?

    What am I doing??????

Panicking! lol. really having a hard time thinking of something original to give, my theme is butterflies and, for the mum's, I've seen some lovely compact mirrors with butterflies on the top or some showy perfume bottles with pretty butterfly designs on! But as for the Dad's, not a clue so I'm bookmarking this to see what gtreat ideas the others come up with! x

Jewellery? There are so many artists out there making incredible and fun little personal trinkets and there's so many there has to be something for everyone..

@LittleMissBossy - have you seen the coffee cup made out of a camera lens? That would make an amazing and personal present for a photographer dad :) I have seen them for less than £20 online and I bet there is a way of personalising them further if need be.

I am having a tiny piece of my wedding dress put into a pendant after the wedding.. if your dress has been altered or you could take small swatches from it, maybe that would make a nice present for a bride's mama.

    I have dozens more ideas!

Ataraxia these are two very interesting ideas. I like crafting and they'll keep the corsages I'm going to make - and though they are already brooches I was thinking of making more brooches for my mum and mil - incorporating swatches of the dress is a GENIOUS idea! Thank you.

I shall google those cups - he'll love this.

A good present for your dad (although maybe for a birthday or something) is a hot drinks mug in the shape of a Connon lens lol. I saw this today on Fbook and loved it lol. I am also a photographer so it has made my xmas wish list lol.

How about cross-stiching your mum a poem? My sister in law did it for her mum and it was lovely. She loved it and it is now framed and on display in her house.
    Dad's are trickier though!

Cross stitching is really simple! If you can do any other type of handycraft then you can definitely cross stitch. I spent month doing a huge picture for my nanna a few years ago and she really loved it.

What about candles? I'm having mini Neom candles at my wedding, so I'm going to give the mums one as a thank you, I'm hoping that when they burn them it will take them back to the wedding day. The glass can also be used afterwards.

And what are you giving your bms and best men and groomsmen?

I am currently thinking a necklace for each bm which they wear on the day - but what's keeping me from this idea is that I gave my sister (one of the bms) such a necklace already for christmas last year. Boring, isn't it? I want to give them name necklaces - their name in acrylic handwriting in the colour they wear on the day - I have 7 bms all wearing a different colour. The acryl name necklace I gave my sister last year was blue but she'll wear green on the day - so the necklace would be a different colour to the one she already has.

I don't know about the bridesmaids yet, I have 3 adults, 1 teenager and 3 littles! Probably go with the necklace idea, something that they can keep. A voucher is a good idea Anni. At my sisters wedding they bought one the ushers a new Xbox game that he had been coveting! People appreciate gifts like that I think. Maybe I'll hit the January sales...

I did comment to h2b that we're the ones getting married yet the list of presents to buy people was growing by the day! Lol.

nope, read through and still cant find anything appropriate for them. Why is this soooo hard! I am pulling my hair out over this! pocket watches will not be useful to fil, grandad or best men! perfume bottle a possible option for mil but I already got her one of those at crimbo last year and it currently just stays in the loo! alcohol also not really an option.

MIL gave H2B two diamond rings when we mentioned that we were thinking of getting married, one ring from each of his nan's. We used diamonds from both rings to create my engagement ring and we now have diamonds and gold left from the original rings. I'd like to use one of the diamonds as well as the gold to create a necklace for the MIL. As a thank you not only for the wedding, but also for the rings in the first place. I like the idea of having a swatch of my dress put into a pendant for my mum too.

We are getting olive trees for the mums - and probably a little sign to go with them when they are planted. For Best Man we are getting this special map where you can scratch off where you have been (he's a traveller) BMs will get jewellery and then also a little bottle of something from the shop where you get alcohol or oils put in bottles and you can get messages put on the bottles (not sure if i am explaining that correctly)
