I like the idea of having tea lights all over the place (like 5 or so on each table)
But am a little worried that it will just be a real pain having to replace the ones that have burned out.

Who's job would it be to replace them with new ones?

Am i asking for trouble and hassle?
or has someone here been to a wedding with candles or had them at their wedding and they worked great?

with tea lights they only burn for about 4 hours but Im guessing u would only have to replace them once? Could u ask the caterers if they would do it for u?

The safety side of me needs to make sure you will be putting them in proper holders. As very hot metal bottoms and table cloths wont mix!

My whole wedding day.. the ceremony in the church.. the reception.. evening do.. is all being done by candle light. The church are dealing with the candles for there, Ive brought hurricane vases with candles and lots of tea lights for the reception and the caterers etc will keep changing candles when they need to be done and they are letting me use two huge candleabras that hold 80 candles each.. for the evening do we're not using tea lights (drunken people etc and tea lights dont match) but we're keeping the huricane vases on the tables with battery operated candles

I like the idea of tea lights at our wedding breakfast, but not worrying about replacing them once they're burnt out because we're not likely to have them in the evening because of more people and the extra drink that will be consumed :P

Just a thought though - is your venue going to be turning your room around between the wedding breakfast and evening reception? If so, that may be the ideal time to replace them and ask the staff there to do it at that time x

My venue will be changing everything around and they are really happy to change all the candles around.. you just need to speak to them and see what they think, if not speak to a friend! If you like the idea of hurricane vases then try home base website ... the ones Ive brought arent on there anymore but they have some lovely ones and for cheap! If you want candles have candles hun, theres always a way to deal with it lol

In all the weddings I have organised and helped with (and there have been many!) there has never been a problem with candles at the evening dos....remember a table for 10 people is quite a size and if the candles are in the centre people would have to lie on the table to be anywhere near them..in which case they deserve being burnt ha ha.

5th November bride....that sounds lovely and 80 candles wow....I would love to come just to see that bit!!!

And yes, I was rather amazed when they told me how many candles they can get on the candleabras too.. Im glad they are providing the candles and not me! I will take lots of pics lol!!

I have been thinking about this too! we have got LOADS of candles. Hurricane vases with pillar candles inside for centrepieces, which i hope will burn the whole night. And then tea lights EVERYWHERE!! Am making sure my ones are not scented, as we have to many it would be a bit too powerful. But I am bringing a big bag of extra ones and am going to assign my bridemaids to making sure they stay lit and to replace them just before the night guests arrive.

I've always found Ikea the cheapest for tea lights but can't remember off hand how much it is for a bag as they always last me for ages. I would see if your venue would go around replacing them as I know our toastmaster is going to sort out little things like that for us.

I just found out that our venue (which is a National Trust property) will let us have tealights on the table so long as the candleholder was higher than the flame. That made sense. I love the way candles look, but definitely don't want the day marred by any toasting beyond the champagne toast, lol! They can provide hurricane lanterns, but I'm wondering if tealights will be nicer...
