I've never properly used a sun bed before and i am thinking of using one to gradually build up a tan for the big day but I'm just wondering how long does it take to go from very pale to having a sort of golden/brown tan?
I don't want to go really brown i just don't want to look like a vampire like i do now
Thanks for reading :) xxx

Hi Nicoles Mummy
I've no idea how long it would take, you'd need to ask the people in there I guess how long they think it'll take you to 'crisp up' :-)
What about a fake bake, rather than a sun bed?

I've never used a sunbed either hun I'm gonna go for the airbrush tan but gonna try it a few months before just incase I don't like it I can explore other options x

You can get a really nice tan in just a short while - I thought I would need to 'build' my tan up over a long time but it's not the case - i'd say a maximum of 2 months before - 3-6 mins a time ( depending on your skin tone - the girls in the salon will advise you ) about 3 times a week is what I go on - and if you need a tan boost then they do a cream to give yourself a quick boost. I found I wasted a lot of money at the start of the year tanning so I stopped and I started going on again about 2 weeks ago and I have a nice glow :) XXX hope this gives you an idea

Thank you everyone I've just been looking into it and i think i am going to try a spray tan first and see if it rubs off on white clothes and if it does then i will try the sun beds a few months before the wedding. Zoe, great tips thanks
My kind of thread. I love tanning!!! I am a qualified spray tan technician as I didn't want to keep going on sunbeds as I am very aware of the bad effects. However I don't want a spray tan for my wedding as they always go really dark on me and with the honeymoon straight after, I want something longer lasting.
Anyway, back to the topic. Obviously it depends on your own skin type and how well you tan usually. But like zoe said, there are loads of creams you can buy that speed up the tanning process. I had a gorgeous one that smelled amazing!! From what I know, on sunbeds it is best to build up the amount of mins you go on for to prevent looking like a tomato the first few times. Xx

Hi mrsowen2be,
Have you ever had a spray tan rub off on your clothes? that's what im scared of happening so thinking of using sunbeds instead x

Ive never seen the spray tans rub off on my friends clothes. The salon should be able to advise you when you go and enquire though. Clarins do a nice fake tan that does look natural (ie holiday glow) but its about £18 a go

I had a few sunbed sessions before my day. I started with 4 weeks to go, and had two sessions at 3 mins in the first week, and then went up to 6 mins three times in 2nd & 3rd week and then 6 mins twice in last week. It built up a lovely color, but not enough for anyone to think I'd been xx

I've always fake tanned before a wedding, either spray or the mousse - but I do it the weekend before a wedding and then wash as normal during the week run up, that way it looks more like a glow rather than an orange attack!

Spray tans WILL rub off and show on light coloured clothing. I spoke to someone about this the other day and she recommended using piz buin (the everyday moisturiser with tan) to build it up over a few months.

Plus then you will still look like you. There is nothing worse if you are usually tan free than turning up to your wedding looking nothing like yourself. A few months of having a glow will help you adjust. plus if yyou are doing your own make up you will need to make sure your make up matchs your skin tone.

A spray fake tan will come off on clothing I have had them before and I know several people who have had them before their wedding. Though on a plus they do normally was out ok, even from their wedding dresses.
Happily in love and can't wait to be married! xx

Thanks ladies, I have decided to go for sunbeds over the winter to see how it turns out as there is a special offer local to me. If im not happy with the results after 2 - 3 months then i will try spray tan instead. x

i always use sunbeds in the summer before im about to go away.
you need to build up slowly or you will burn and you will need to use cream.
start about 4 weeks before and go 2-3 times in the first week and you will be fine.
i had a spray tan and it was awful....i would never have one again but love sunbeds x

I went for a spray tan once and it looked ok for the first day or two but then i started looking mottled and patchy.I have also tried lots of different gradual moisturing type creams including some v.expensive well known ones and with all i have ended up streaky and patchy.Maybe its my skin ,who knows, but however carefully i apply i end up looking like a tiger.so i think i will probably do a few sessions on the sunbed in September(hopefully topping up the tan i have got over the summer-if we have one!)I know sunbeds are bad news but they also have the added benefit for me of clearing up my skin so i think a few won't hurt too much! xxx

I have never been on a sunbed. Didn't see much point as I have very fair skin. Would it work for me?
