Stick to the dating idea but change some of the names

Well we were going for the usual table numbers then we thought about the whole well so and so is on number such and such and blah blah so decided it would be a safer option to just call the tables different names. We have thought about naming them after places that we have been together dating etc.

So far out of all the places we have been we think these are the better of the names:
Newstead (the abbey where we first met)
Chatsworth (went to the house early dating)
Bosworth (went to the battlefield and also where we are now getting married)
Elvaston (went to the castle and the steam ralley dating)
    Witley (went to Witley court)
New Quay (were we went on our first hols together)

Do you think these are OK for table names or we should have a different theme? I love the idea behind it but not sure if the table names are good enough if you know what I mean?

I love the idea Jo, you could maybe add a little bit of info on why the names were chosen on the table cards, and maybe even a photie of you both at that place! Really thoughtful idea :)

That is a good idea about the info. I am going to nab that idea. I think it will be a nice touch for the guests to know what they are sitting on that table name.

That's a great idea. We were originally going to put the names of places that meant alot to us i.e where we got engaged, had first date etc then changed our mind to loved ones lost i.e grannies, uncles etc but then I came up with the idea of superheros like superman etc as h2b is quite into stuff like that. He loved it but wanted to maybe make it mysterious by changing it to latin/gaelic etc but they looked weird (batvir!?) so ended up with super cars as h2b LOVES them (yawn!) haha.

Yeah I'm starting to think that with the cards saying why we chose them etc it will make it even more special rather than people just wondering why we picked the names. I'm making little wishing trees for each table rather than a seating plan with escort cards. I'm going to spray the pots ivory and the trees are ivory and gold. I was thinking about growing some grass in the botton of the pots to add some greenery to them and then spiking the table name cards with the reason in the bottom of each pot. I only have six tables so it shouldn't take them too long to find their names.

Scrap the grass I think I will find some pretty pebbles or glass stones etc to top the pots with.

Sounds like a fab idea Jo. We had names of places we lived or worked at and then the top table was the name of the area we live in now together. We didn't put any description of what they meant but they were a good conversation starter as guests would ask each other why their table was called "Linn Moor" and so on. xx

I think that's a lovely idea, particularly if you put descrition cards of why you chose the names on the tables. We are having the ceremony and the meal in the great hall at our venue. And for the meal there will be four long tables in the great hall so I wanted to call them Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin but H2B say that this would just be embrassing.

we are doing something very similar, we have named the tables after places we used to visit when we were working abroad(which is where we met), love the idea of a pic of you two at the said place aswell. took me ages to decide how todo the name but have made some flip flops to write the name on, you could do for example a little chatsworth house or something alog those lines! I think its a great personal touch xx
