My big idea was to keep it traditional and have a mix of his family and my family. However, we seem have have 80% of the guests are his family and friends, and 20% mine. We have tables of 8 (10 at a push) but I think I have managed to sort something out. He has one member of his family who does nothing but complain, and none of his other family want to be near this guy - so I have put him with my Nan, Grandad and my mum's partner, cos they'll keep him in line!! We also have a table full of just his mates, as the type of opinionated people there are it's not fair to put them on with anyone else. My brothers will be sat with my kids to hopefully keep them ummmm....semi-behaved! I've tried to keep older people together and younger people together, and people with the same interests together (or rather the nutter's of the group) but it still doesn't seem like I've got the mix I planned for. I know this is because there's not enough people to have that mix but do you think it's ok to have the tables set out in the way described? Older people will have a table near the head table, and those with younger kids by the door, purely for practicle reasons.

I thought it would be more difficult but because of the split of people it was quite easy. Like I said, older people together, younger people together, kids together etc etc. The rest just kinda fell into place

Yeah that sounds fine. Im dreading doing this too, its the other way round with us, loads of my family and not much of his. Trouble is most of his family are very hard to get on with so i dont know what im going to do! x
