I'd like the idea of not but I can just see his family on one side and mine on the other and it be abit akward!!
So what we are doing is assigning people tables but they can sit where they want to :) x

My cousin never had one and it was chaos and the family never got to sit together because as it was a big wedding there wernt enough tables...
I'd always say do a plan, infornal wedding or not, it will avoid chaos and unhappy family!

My sister isn't she would love one but as her fiancé is from Nigeria and his family wouldn't listen to a table plan if there was one, she just isn't bothering x

it would be a bit chaotic if you didnt do one. you would get some spare chairs on some tables and families would have to split up to fit in. maybe you can just do a table plan with the names for each table but let them choose their own seats on that table? x

I was not going to do a table plan, I wanted it to be very informal with people sitting where ever they wanted to. However, it got pointed out to me that you will end up with tables where more than the allotted numbers will want to sit there, or you might get a couple not being able to sit together etc etc. Plus it made it easier for my venue as they were serving starters and desserts so we done a table plan in the end. I literally put the people together who were all friends with each other. I had two tables where I had single seats left so my sons girlfriends were put on those.

Just done my table plan.... The third version. lol. Yeah I agree with the above posts, unless it's very small then you need a plan.

We are. We are only having our reception in a social club, but I think having a plan is still important for a wedding if you want it to be formal. I am worried, that because people are being invited to a wedding at a social club, they think it isnt a formal wedding, but I still want it to be formal.

I wasn't going to do a table plan at first, but h2b's family is a lot bigger than mine and I didn't want mine to have to fight for seats with people they don't know!
But if you don't have any issues then keep it informal - good way of encouraging new friendships!

Been with my gorgeous 5years :)
