I believe you need to add them to the guest list first & then they'll be available to add to your table plan :)

im really not looking forward to this table plan boo!!
The first thing you need to remember is, the software is very flaky, but it can be done. Be patient with it.
The first thing you need to to is type in your guest list, as the table planner works in conjunction with this. Once this is done, then you can start work on your table plan, allocating your guests to your tables. Using the task bar along the top, select the table shape you want (i.e. top table, etc), and how many per table. You will now see the tables appear in numerical order, along with the place settings you want.
Along the left-hand side, you'll see a series of discs. This is basically your guest list names which you can drag across to the allocated tablesKeep doing this until your happy with everything. and once you're happy, print them off. IMPORTANT:PRINT FIRST - DO NOT SAVE! if you do, the discs will fly back to the side, and you will lose everything. Get everything laid out in the way you want it, then print them off first.
It's a faff, but it can be done. The important thing is print first, and don't save until after you print. at least then you'll have a hard copy, and all wont be lost.
Ian knows about it as I emailed him, telling him what the problem was, but seemed not too bothered when I told him I managed to do what I wanted! ;-)

The best thing to do,once you have everything laid out the way you want it, is print the plans off and scan them in. That way, you won't lose anything.
