my question is if you have escort cards do you really need a table plan, the tables will have place cards on them.

If you have escort cards with the table names on then you probably don't need a table plan at all.

Basically the place names aren't at the tables, you pick them up before you go into the room and the place names tell you what table to sit at, so you take your place name and go and sit where it tells you to sit. This gets rid of the need for a table plan. It's popular in America I believe.
There's no point doing both really, it's a bit of a waste.
Never heard of them but they sound like a good idea.

Escort Cards: These cards are used to let each guest know what table they are assigned to. Place Card: The place card is on the table at the place assigned to the guest.
you can also incorporate the escort card as your wedding favour

You only need one or the other, personally I prefer the table plan with place cards at the table. x

thats great as long as people dont leave a gap betwen seats/guests (am i making sense!? lol) so say a party of 2 guests dont end up seporated across the table lol could see that kicking off!
