Having attending a friends wedding yesterday it's got me thinking about table plans. We plan to have a hot fork buffet for our wedding breakfast where people help themselves, would it be wise to have a table plan to ensure we have a top table for plus ensure that our guests are seated with people they know? or is it not the done thing?
Any thoughts gratefully received!

Im having a sit down meal but if I was having a buffet I would still sit them in certain places so that I could guarantee people mixing and no cliques. Also that means its not a free for all and more controllable for the speeches
Thats the way I see it anyway.... xxx

I'm also having a fork buffet, but cold! We are currently thinking of sorting out a table plan so that our parents will be on the tables next to us, as with the shape of the room and 4 kids between us, we will already have 6 on the top table and there isn't room for both sets of parents!

Thanks ladies, I've discussed it with OH and we're starting to think it makes sense to put something in place, at least for the wedding breakfast. Another thing to add to the list!

We're planning on having a fork buffet and are in two minds about a table plan. Our families have never met and probably won't until the wedding so would be nice to mix people up so everyone talks. On the other hand, I can't be bothered to try and work out who will be best sitting next to who (call me lazy!) lol. x
I'm sticking people with who they know, except a couple of mates who won't know anyone else but their other halves! It'll make everyone feel more comfortable, I know someone who had us all move around between courses, and another to mix them all up but put quizes on the table for them to find out about each other! I think someone on here was on about trivia cards!

We had a buffet, and did a table plan. We had the speeches first and wanted everyone sitting down with a drink for them before we had the meal.
