    Hi Girls
I attended my best friends wedding last year and she had an amazing sweetie bar and it went down an absoloute storm everybody loved it. Would it be really bad if I had a sweetie bar at our wedding too? would she think I was just copying her and stealing her idea? She is my maid of honour too! ALso if I did decide to do this where is the best place to buy all the sweets from??? x

I photographed a wedding recently and my nose was drawn to the delicious smell but I wasn't quite sure where it was coming from, and then they unvield it all, OH man, it looked and smelt gorgeous.

But we having 2 choc fountains instead (my family more chocoholics than sweeties)

    x

Hi JLR, I dont think your friend would think you are copying at all, alot of couples do this now, its a great addition to a wedding, we are going to do one, have looked at hiring and it can work out to be expensive, but so can doing it yourself, ive been looking on the bay of e , ie scoops bags sweets, jars/glasses/bowls to hold sweeties, just be shrewd, look around you can get some real bargains but you can also be ripped off specially when you add it all up at the end. But on the whole think its all worth it, definately a good idea. : ) x

They are fab - I'm doing the same as laire and doing it DIY. I've bought the paper black and white stripped bags from bay of e (£2 for 100) and started collecting vintage jars. You can also buy some great wooden signs, I've got one saying 'Candy Bar' it cost £3 so just need to decorate it.

Your guests will love it!! xx

We got some plastic bbq bowls from the coop as they were in a lovely teal colour to match our theme then me and my mum stuck on some adhesive diamontes round the edge. We've also got jars from Asda with silver screw tops which look good too. x

This is such a fab idea, was gonna put bowls of sweets round on the evening reception anyway but love the idea of the sweet bar. Just been on H2B's bay of e and put loads of scoops, bags etc on his watch-he just says to do as I want lol.
As for the jars I have similar looking jars in my cupboards for things such as porridge, flour and spices and bought them or less than a pound each and from Ikea x

Definitely the "in" thing right now to have at weddings so I don't think your friend would think that at all, and even if she did I am sure she would be flattered that you want to have one too.
We are having one that we are doing ourselves. Got jars from Home Bargains, and got 7 types of sweets from a cash and carry. And I got scoops and bags from ebay and also really pretty retro looking tags with ribbons tied round 4 of the jars with the sweet names on them. Today my MIL2b offered a chocolate fountain too so really looking forward to smelling the lovely chocolate and having strawberries to dip in it, mmmmmm, lol. x
