Im planning on making these for my wedding. Our plan is using small round oasis balls (like in flower boquets) covering in silver foil, or gold depending on colour theme. Then bulk buying the flying sausers/Jelly beans etc, and then putting these on coctail sticks & putting into the oasis, from what i can see they should be quite easy to make, ive recruited the bridesmaid & other mates and they are prepared for a fair few nights in the week before to get these made :o) They look amazing, its a brill idea!
(although i havnt quite decided what to use for the tree stick/trunks yet, if you come up with any ideas let me know) x

    Oh thanks Mrs Mann!!

Beckyf my understanding is maybe using a real branch or getting some thin wooden pole and then filling the pot with plaster of paris or what ever its called lol! so the branch can take the weight of the sweets. How much are the sweets working out? xx

They're fab! I'm having these as we are having a willy wonka themed sweetie buffett! That's the way I was thinking about making them, but like you, I am unsure what to use for the trunk. It would have to be something quite strong, to hold the weight. And also, what would you fill the plantpot with to stop it toppoling over?x

I think we might go for these but we are going to have a separate table so people can just pick at them, so i think we'll get like 3-4 trees :)....makes it a little less cost

I am going to have some sweeties around my cake (its a cupcake cake) I am going to have some black and white swirly lollipops in jars, a couple of bowls with red chewy heart sweets and I think I'll make 2 trees to stand either side of the cake. Just need to think of black and white sweeties (or red) to use :-)

I'm having a sweet buffet meant to be for kids but now doing it for everyone, also having the little stripey bags and scoops etc so just like a pick 'n' mix, i'm doing the trees myself so decided to have a trial run for my little boys birthday in october, can't wait so went and bought some pots and oasis from garden centre yesterday.. not sure where to get the large polystyrene balls yet xx
