Is anyone planning on doing a surprise wedding dance? H2b keeps mentioning, that we should start off with our first dance, and then break into something upbeat that guests wont expect. Would any of you ladies do this?

I did search for a topic on this, but couldn't find one x

I think it is a great idea but I wouldn't be brave enough to do it! My H2B has refused any kind of dance lessons so there's no way he'd do this anyway! My best friend wants to do this at her wedding but to get the wedding party involved too! I'm MOH so I'll have to wait and see if this happens! She gets married 3 weeks after me though so maybe I'll make the excuse that i'm too busy to practice!

i was strongly considering it but when I mentioned it to a few key people they seemed to think it was rather tacky and overdone so regretably, we wont be doing that. I am trying to get h2b to do a nice first dance by going to dance classes but just your run of the mill dances, nothing too flashy that is obviously staged. I want it to still look pretty natural. H2B also said the dance can lose the meaning if you go too ott and its best to keep it as intended. Just our opinions tho.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

We're going to have a couple of lessons but keeping it natural - more so we look comfortable but not staged. The first time I saw a clip of a couple doing that, they dont it to that song 'I like big butts...' I loved it! I think I'd love it if a friend done it too but not for us x

I have mentioned an idea of this with my H2B and he likes the idea but because of his back issues he may not manage!

He has said if his back is alot better then he would def be up for it,

h2b is not a dancer so we wont be doing it, but I think it looks great! Would love to do something like this if h2b was up for it - he doesn't even really want to dance, just shuffle around the dance floor!!

Good luck with it all hun xx

I thought some of them looked pretty cool, but others just looked staged. We opted for a simple foxtrot x
Big up to ya though if you decide to, I'd end up dreading it all day

Hunny Bunny the American ones are always great arent they, if the couple get right into it they're good - I think Brits are in the habit of doing things half heartedly x

We were toying with the idea... but h2b is not a great dancer... so I think we r just doing a slow one. I have suggested to the bridesmaids that we all do something tho....we shall just see

We did a surprise coreographed first dance! We practised for months! We were going to do exactly what you've said and start off with something "regular" but then at my last dress fitting I noticed that I couldn't walk backwards without stepping on my dress (all my steps were backwards) so we just scrapped it and did the fun one instead. On the day I realised that I could walk backwards, but it was too late to change back as we hadn't practised enough and hadn't given the music to the DJ. Everyone loved it and said how brilliant it was xx

We were going to do that and I said if we didnt I wanted dance lessons. Anyway when to a dance teacher and she said we didnt need to because ur song was upbeat enough to fit it in. We have practiced it a bit but are so pleased with it.

I want to get lots of practise in, h2b is not the best dancer,(Acctually, we both dance like no one's watching lol). So he'd prefere to dance to something upbeat. We're starting off with Fleetwood Mac's Songbird. Getting a bit excited at the thought of doing this now x
