Hi All! My H2B has said he wants to get married in a particular church that his parents got married in, his Mum is buried there and his Aunty is the vicar at and we wants to have her marry us. I have agreed to the her marrying us part but as I'm not religious I always said I wasn't too happy marrying in a church.. However recently I've been thinking otherwise.. my parents aren't religious either but it was also the church they were married in so that may be nice. I'm not 100% sure yet but I was thinking does anyone know if it's possible to arrange a church wedding without him knowing? So on the day the driver takes him there and it's a complete suprise? = ) I know they do things like this on that show when they don't let the bride know what's happening (not sure if I can say the name!) But do you think I would be able to do that? I'm not asking for help hiding it 'cause that'd be easy = ) he's a silly doofus so I could easily say we were getting married in wherever we book the reception for and he wouldn't know otherwise! But is it possible to arrange it with the church? Do you think that's a nice idea?

Seeing as his aunt will be marrying you I don't see why not! Would you be paying for the church considering the circumstances? It is always possible but so long as he doesn't see where the money is going. Its not just the venue you would need to keep quiet its the readings too as no religious content allowed in a civil ceremony
Find out who you are & do it on purpose!

Thats such a lovely idea, I'm sure you could do it, especially if he's one of these men who just lets you organise everything!
You could give him the forms for the registry office and say you'l drop em in for him (I'm not that far into my planning so I don't know how it works)
I did think you had to have banns read in church and the church required you to attend so many weeks before hand?????
Best of luck with it, guess the first point of call is having a chat with his aunt
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

hay... its a lovely idea:) when we went to see our vicar we had to fill out forms and when we paid the deposit, we signed a form with our signatures on to confirm... as its his aunty she may make allowances... so you should really ask and some gentle prompting during the service should allow for the lack of rehersal!!
GOOD LUCK HUNI :D XXXX

when we went to visit our minister we both had to answer a few questions and both had to sign, so not sure it would be possible without getting his signature, also if you are happy without a rehearsal. i agree the best thing to do first of all is speak to his aunty. would be brill if you could do it :) x

that is a lovely idea...but he will need to sign things so not sure if it will be possible. also if you dont tell him where you are getting married as you sure he will not guess and ruin the surprise. speak to his aunt and see what she hsa to see is prob your best bet xx

Thanks all = ) I'll speak to his Aunty about it. Maybe I won't leave it a suprise on the day, I'll see how long I can leave it without him knowing and figure it out! = ) thank you all! xxx

Awwww, it would be so lovely for you to surprise him! See if his Aunty has any suggestions, I think. TBH, most men are clueless about paperwork, so if he needs to sign forms for the church, you could just be quite blarzay(sp?) about it and say well these are the forms for the reg office and (like you said) I'll drop them for you. He prob won't even realise that he's supposed to attend the reg office to give notice! Hope it works out - sounds such a lovely thing to do and a great idea! Hx
