Is anyone else NOT desperately trying to lose weight for their wedding? I sometimes feel like there's a huge amount of pressure on brides to lose weight before their wedding rather than just be happy with being themselves. I start feeling like I should be trying to lose weight even though I'm quite happy with the way I look and feel. It's just a little bit depressing.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Im with kaya, Im trying to loose weight for myself not for the wedding. Actually its not even trying to lose weight, just not put any more on. I have been recommended to keep a healthy lifestyle diet and exercise due to PCO, possibly PCOS (under investigation) plus i look at pictures of myself and can see how much weight i have put on in recent years and i dont like it, i want to get back down, not as small as i was as i looked unhealthy but just to a nice weight where i feel comfortable in my bikini.... ideally magically by 2 weeks time when i go to malta lol.

I guess there's part of me that'd like a "Not Trying To Lose Weight" support group in the way that other people have a "Weight-Loss" support group. It's hard not to get sucked into the "YOU MUST LOSE WEIGHT FOR YOUR WEDDING" mindset.

I'm with you and it's so nice to hear that from someone other than me! I made a decision that I sisn't want to look back in 20 years time and wonder how on earth I lost weight and 'ooh, wasn't I lovely and slim - I've never been that slim since'. I am what I am and I'm generally ok with the way I look. I know I could tone up a bit, but apart from that, I'm ok with it.
I work with 3 guys and 2 of them are amazed that I'm not dieting (they are keen to say that I don't need to diet though)! It makes me mad that there's this perception that if you're getting married then you'll be on a diet. Not everyone is!

I was shocked at how much wedding magazines pressure you as a bride to feel like you should be on a diet.

Im not dieting (5ft 4 - 118lbs) So I think im ok. But I get bored and saddned by the pressure on women/!

Me to, I have 2 children but me and h2b have planned another, and i am terrified that it wont happen. H2b keeps trying to reassure me saying it'll be fun trying (lol), which is nice of him, but it is something that does play on my mind quite often. Though Drs have reassured me that whilst it may take a little longer than some, theres no reason why it would never happen. They have put me on the pill already saying it should hopefully kickstart some sort of cycle. It has done already, not regular or monthly, but theres something every 2 months or so which is good (before the pill i went 7 months with nothing!)....

Maybe we need a POCS support thread!

I too have it, as well as Endometriosis, I was diagnosed last December after about 8 years of knowning what my prob was. I am still waiting for my dietician appt, and my GP sends all POCS women, larger or smaller as the correct diet can help symptoms greatly!

My mum and CBM are desperately trying to lose weight, but that's their thing.

HeatherG - The depressing thing is that the bride starving herself before the wedding has been going on for at least 150 years. Apparently around the 1860s the aim was to get married with a waist measurement smaller than your age in years. At least it's not too difficult these days with getting married later!

JaeSin - I wasn't really given any advice other than to go back to endocrinology when I wanted to have kids as I'd probably need help... Gee... Thanks!

I was quite lucky that when I came off the pill I was regular as clockwork but I had a mirena coil put in as I was dreadful for forgetting to take the pill. I'm just hoping that I'll have a regular cycle again once I go au naturel.

I put on at least 2 stones since I've been with H2B before being with him I lost about 2/3 stones in a few months time, due to change of work and bad eating, then when I got with him, I started eating more, and nice little meals, so put it all back, now since end of January I lost 10 lbs without doing much more than drinking lots of water, trying to walk about 20 min a few times a week, and watching what I'm eating and I already feel lots better, I have lots 4" to my waist, meaning I need to buy new corsets, but at least now I know that I am back to being nearly normal size

I am me, I am thin, if I loose weight I look ill. I have no worries and sadly for most, the only kind of diet I can ever manage to stick to is the see food diet (sorry dad joke). I am not worried if I offend anyone, I am thin, it is in my genes to be thin, I have hollow ankles and a fast metabolism, I also work very hard in a physically and mentally demanding job so I don't exercise either.

I used to weigh 6st 10 and could for the life of me get above that. I'm 5ft 1 but still looked awful (I didn't think it was that bad at the time, but I can't even look at pics of myself back then). I had a crazy quick metabolism and was always on the go as I did a performing arts course, so very active (oh and 3 jobs too)! Then I got glandular fever in my 1st yr at uni and on went the weight. My metabolism has slowed down (sometimes I wonder if it's stopped completely!) but I generally eat what I want but try to cycle as much as I can to keep it at bay. I'm quite lucky and I've stayed the same shape/size for the past couple of years or so.

I gained a lot of weight when I was with my ex, but went with a personal trainer to get myself back in shape and, more than anything else, shake off the depression that my ex caused. Since then I've tried to keep active (sometimes more successfully than others) but my weight stays comfortably within the 70-75kg range (which I'm happy with). I can't really imagine myself weighing much less.

My H2B fancies me a lot lot lot more when I have boobs, and when I lost weight I was suprised to find how Unsexy I felt and how my H2B still loved me but no longer gave me that look - but rather begged me to gain weight again!

Then when I did gain weight 'that' look came back!! :)

And he often tells me 'dont lose your boobs again!'

I know it sounds silly for him to say that - but I know what he means and it makes me feel good.
And I feel way way way sexier now than when I was 107lbs.

SpecialSundae, you can come round for tea when ever you want - I'l make sure you get loads of alpro cream in yours.....I'm not lacto I'm just cow juice......Isn't it annoying when you fancy a mocha and the coffee shop makes you have black. Or vegan friendly places that have loads of cakes and nummy biscuits on the counter and they've all got bloomin cow juice in. Urm bean pate on toast or chocolate muffin.....hmmm yes I'l go with the boring pate that'l dunk well with my monkey mocha!

    That sounds ace, Rags. :D

I've got fabulously friendly coffee shop guys who make me mochas with real dark chocolate, espresso from beans roasted in store and BonSoy, which meant to be the best soya milk for coffee. They have my orders memorised so I just have to walk in and they're making it already. I accidentally had a normal mocha the other week and spent the afternoon feeling really sick.

I can cope with a little bit in a cake, it tends to be the coffees that kill me. :(

I do make lots of cake at home though. I did a really cute giant chocolate cupcake with white chocolate and rose icing. Nom!
