ARE YOU SPENDING TOO MUCH ON YOUR WEDDING?

Remarkable Television is looking for overspending couples to take part in a new series of SuperScrimpers on Channel 4.

Is your wedding busting your budget... are you worried about how much your wedding is costing, but getting carried away and can’t stop!

Is your Wedding spending out of control?

Perhaps you’re spending too much money on clothes, holidays and nights out, rather than putting it away for your big day?

Do you feel that the cost of your big white wedding just isn’t achievable at the moment?

If you and your fiancé feel you’re throwing your money down the drain and would like some help to save for your big day then please send your name and contact details to [email protected] or call 0333 577 7773. All landline calls will be charged at your local rate. Mobiles may vary.

We started out with a 5k budget which has now gone up to 8k but I wouldnt say we are over spending beyound our means!
people hear the word "wedding" and add on the 0's unfortantly :-( and for what we want our original budget just wasnt enough!
Because of this we have post poned the wedding until 2015 and decided to buy a house first. Yes prices may and properly will increase over the years but by doing it this way i have already saved 2k just by booking venue and photographer last year and securing this years prices rather then 2015. (both have increased prices since i booked because of the market and because of the VAT increase)

so glad our parents are paying well weve paid all the deposits and ive forked out for the favours.

cos they were waiting a long time for us to do it as soon as we announced and bookd our venue they were like "well give u blah and also we will give u blah!!!"

hopefully soon we will be working and can put a wee bit more to it, i used half ma redundancy money to pay the deposits and my ring. but i dont mind cos im getting married woop woop lol

Initally we did not want to go over £5,000 but its proving impossible - like yourself Hails its not that we are deliberately overspending its the fact suppliers and the word 'wedding' are dangerous when it comes to the £££ signs. Had a phone call from the venue we are pondering over and they have said that if we still want to hold it there then we will need to put a deposit down within 2 weeks then they will hold 2012 prices ( which have gone up by a £1 a head) thats good - just finding the £500 deposit within two weeks. my guess is 2013 prices will be alot higher!!.

I'm a bit of an over spender, wedding started at about 12 grand but think its more like 16 now, but i wouldn't wnt someone cutting my wedding back or telling me not to buy or do things in my day to day life. If thy were paying for my wedding that would be a different matter lol but i suspect from the name of the programme thy are looking to tell some poor soul not to do this and not to buy that, don't think i could handle tht xx

I know what i like & what i want, i have tried my hardest to look about. We started with a budget of 20k but i could go over that, luckily my h2b is good at organising money & is making sure i stick to the budget of things. Will see how much over we are nearer the wedding lol

I agree with Nicole, we sat down and realistically worked out how much we could put towards the wedding, then worked out number of guests and worked out a budget per head on various items - originally we were at £20,500 for feeding 160 people, 200 total for the party - after negotiating and bargain hunting where we can it's currently looking like £15,000 which I don't think is bad at all - we've not compromised on quality at all and have bought everything new which I think is pretty good going! It's such a shame when people go crazy with the additional details to get themselves further into debt...
