    Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone had ever hired a supercare for their H2B on their wedding day? It's looking like £500ish so the best man and I are thinking of hiring one as a gift. However, i'm terrified that they are going to be really picky about any damage and therefore i'm worried that it will eat into the £3,500 secruity despoist you have to give (which will be a credit card and hoping none will get taken as i cannot afford that), e.g. a stone chip or something that wasn't noticed beforehand etc. So i'm just wondering if anyone can offer any advice.

    Thanks Kate

Yeah it was a Ferrari, i found some places that wanted £5000 for a deposit which was a def no go, my credit card only goes up to £3500 lol. I am starting to think that i'm going to leave it. As we're cutting costs this was going to be a gift split as we can't afford a wedding car now so i thought this gift killed two birds with one stone HHmmmm ... decisions decisions.

How about a novelty car? Like the A-team van or a mustang? I was going to do that instead but were i live it was going to cost too much-might be worth a look? If you want i'll post a link for you? x

You can get shofer driven mercs etc as taxis in my area so if you shop around I'm sure you will find something. We are having a vintage rolls Royce and that was only £325 with as many trips as we like and we didn't need to leave a £3500 deposit!

Thanks :) i'll leave this idea i think. Just found a place in Essex in Ilford that you can hire it for a few hours and a man drives it so you dont have to pay the secruity deposit. Only works out £300 so might go with that. thanks all for your help.

How are you going to get into a Ferrari in your dress and who's going to drive it? They are normally 2 seaters.

I won't, it will be for my H2B to have a ride in it and to arrive in it and for photos. It won't take us to the venue which is a shame, but i was looking at the self drive ones and they were really expensive.

Hi, we looked at hiring a TVR or Ferrari - hiring of the car isn't too bad - it's the insurance that cripples you and then there's the fuel charge on top.

May take him on a track day or hire one for a day as a birthday surprise instead. Besides there's no way in hell my dress will fit in a supercar.

that is a big deposit we are hiring a rolls royce phantom which is costing roughly 750-800 pounds for 3 hours and the deposit is that again they shouldnt be charging you for general wear and tear as they will have someone driving it so there insurance would cover it i would have thought, id def look around love x

Why don't you give him one of those red letter day gifts instead where he gets to drive a super car. He'll then get to drive one at a later date, without the worry of any damage.

As far as I know that sort of deposit is normal for that type of car.

I dont think they would go mad about stone chips and that sort of thing as it's general wear and tear. It will be in the contract the type of damage they would charge you for, which would be the obvious dents and that sort of thing!!

    Hope this helps xx

best way round it would be to view the car before taking charge of it and veiw it well look at everything right down to any marks on the tyres. make sure everything is noted down before you sign for the car.

It's normal to give them credit card details for a large deposit for any car you hire. The companies I have used for your run of the mill cars don't actually take the money off the card. If there should be some accidental damage done while you have the car it would be covered by the insurance. I agree though take a good look around in close detail. Maybe someone could be designated this very important job! Check the excess on the insurance though

plus a good company will do a walk round check with you present and mark down any damge etc in advance plus should just pay excess if anything happens but check the amount thouroughly

Im in Essex, found an Esssx ferrari hire place so thinking about that. The company where it is self hire take the card i don't think they actually take the money off. But this place charge £300 but with a driver so it takes away all that deposit business but means we both can't be transported in it. Never mind :)
