    opinions please girlies.

i am naturally very fair skinned, to the point that i am almost transparent and becos my dress is ivory i want to hav a little bit of colour to my skin. a girl i work with has been hammering the sunbeds for a few months and she looks fab but i am always a little reluctant wen it comes to sunbeds cos of the risks. so i said to her yesterday that i was gona hav a spray tan dun 4 the weddin and she said she had got one a while back and it went really badly wrong, summit about her leaving a cap on so she had a white line across the top of her forehead, which to me honestly she shud hav had enuf common sense 2 remove her cap.
has any of you lot had any bad experiences with spray tans cos to be honest i wud rather do that then go on a sunbed. i just wanna look nice and not like david dickinson xxx

I've never had any big issues - sometimes it's been uneven but I avoid sunbeds like the plague now so it's all I've got! I rate eco tan as a brand, and like the ones that you build up as if you're pale they're less likely to go streaky. x

Im very fair skinned too, i lived in South Africa for 6 months and still came home white! If you dont tan naturally then dont even bother going on a sun bed hon, it wont do anything. You've got to have melanin in your skin for a sun bed to work! I tried once thinking it might help me tan but I ended up covered in purple blotches and blisters which scared the hell out of me.
I would go with a fake tan but dont get sprayed - they're rubbish nad very patchy! Go with one that they rub in to you like St Tropez. It's about £40 but they will exfoliate and moisturise you first then apply the lotion

I would never use a sunbed, especially after seeing my almost blue/ white friend get 3rd degree burns from one!!! Salons have some brilliant spray tans now and they are not that expensive .. I'd try one way before the big day see if you like the result. Home spray on tans always say they won't streak, and come out even .. RUBBISH!!! never found one yet that doesn't do either!! I always end up a blotchy orange colour xx

i was thinkin that shelby then i can see wot its gona turn out like. it was just with my mate satin hers went wrong and im a spray tan virgin so just wanted to see how many had been botched. im really a bit scared to use a sunbed cos u hear so many bad stories. sum one my mam used to work with died a couple of years ago of skin cancer caused by sun beds and it really scared my mam. she used to sit in the sun all day with no protection and use sunbeds and she hasnt done either since xx

im doing a course of sunbeds, im starting now as i need to get my skin used to the heat as well, as i know the minute we arrive in jamaica ill get heat rash and ill look like a lizard on my wedding day! iv had a spray tan a few times before and they've been very hit and miss, iv only ever had one really good one the rest have been blotchy and very uneven, i wont be risking it for the wedding even though i know i shouldnt really be going on sunbeds either! xx

thats like me cupcake but i always end up with strap marks on my shoulders. on four weddings last year a woman had strap marks and it looked horrendous i would rather be all white. i hav huge boobs (38f) so its not really practical to wear strapless tops either. plus wen i hav a natural tan i get freckles which i really like so im hopin for a bit of sun so i hav a bit of a natural glow xx

this is a difficult one, i think sunbeds carry a risk to your skin, but who wants an orange tinge to the inside of their dress?? I'm not sure. I'm getting married in October so hopefully all my guests will be quite pasty looking by then an wont make me look like casper the friendly ghost!!

I am extremely fair as well and have always said I would NEVER go on a sun bed due to the risks.......so spray is my vote. However my H2B actually calls me his "friendly ghost" so probably won't have either for mine.

    FAKE.

I don't think that even a tan for your wedding is worth risking your health for.

Just ensure the fake tan is done by a professional person...'orange' brides aint a good look!

ladies dont forget, sunbeds are exactly like the sun!! if you are carefull and dont use them too much then they are safe. 2 minutes a couple of times a week is all you need (at the very most!!!!!!!!!!) and make sure you take breaks so a couple of weeks are senbed free, all good sunbed places provide protective creams (like sunblock but for sunbeds).
    * Are you aged under 16?
    * Do you always burn in natural sunlight?
    * Do you have a medical condition that becomes worse in sunlight?
    * Do you have an excessive amount of moles and/or freckles?
    * Do you have a history of sunburn, particularly from childhood?
    * Do you have skin cancer or does any member of your immediate family have/had skin cancer?

This is the basic sunbed safety form, you HAVE to answer no to all these questions at any good tanning salon then they will give you a consultaion to check your skin type and melinin levels are fine for tanning!!
Sunbeds are fine if they are not used to regularly.
You must wear protective eye gogles and you must were at least a factor 15 sun cream for your first couple of sessions so you skin is not bombareded with too much UV light at once. Also make sure you have an attendant with yolu constantly and you are not left to operate the equiptment yourself. make sure there is a PANIC button in the booth, this shuts off the equiptment and calls the attendant.
Just thought i would give you some usefull information, i will be using a sunbed for 3 weeks prior to the wedding, then i shall be leaving it afterwards xxx

I've had a spray tan done once but it made me so dark and it looked so unnatural. Im naturally quite pale skinned as well although tan fairly easily but it didnt really look like me if that makes sense, everyone looks so different really tanned, lol and wouldnt want that for my wedding pics. Will def not get one for my wedding day, would like just a natural glow so i may just use the stuff out of the bottle as someone said above St Tropez is pretty good or i may go on a few sunbeds before if we dont have any nice weather in the couple of months running up to it. Ive never used sunbeds before but my sister has and as long as u put lotion on and dont go on for too long im sure it will be ok.x

I would recommend having a spray tan, I had one last year and it was great. I will probably have a subtle one before my Wedding as it'll be in the summer and I know my bridesmaids will have one too!!

You should try one and see what you think. When you have it done it's streaky and goes really dark, you can actually see it developing on your skin, however when you wash it off the next day it's great and natural. You do need to go for a goos brand though.

I am the palest person ive ever met-honest! lol

I personally wont be doing anything as ive tried sunbeds before and i burnt (i did use them correctly) and ive also had 2 spray tans. One was awful-i had patches everywhere and the other was perfect but because im so pale i just looked odd with a tan! lol Im just going to stay natural and pastey white :D x

ps: my dress is ivory too-apparently the best colour for us ghosts! lol

I'm going for the sunbed option purely because I get spraytans done all the time and they are great don't get me wrong but after a few days when it starts to come off I have always ended up with patchy skin no matter how much I moisturise it's really bad on the stomach area everywhere else isn't too bad. I'm going on honeymoon 2 days after the wedding and I don't want to have really patchy skin and go out sunbathing like that it would look awful!!!xx

I use sun showers as opposed to sunbeds as I get way to clostraphobic.

I've had a tan rub done before in a salon and it worked perfectly.. no streaks.. she rubbed it all in my skin then 4 hours later had to have a shower which then left a perfectly looking normal tan.

I have used dove tan cream aswell.. that can be slightly stinky I've found so had to use a nice smelly moustiriser over it.. but it is a pain in the bum I found as it needs lots of top ups on it and easily comes off when shaving and having a shower. :)
