Summer weddings are lovely but even in July /august you cant be 100% of the weather unless you are marrying abroad.
Winter weddings can be just as fun.
Maybe think about what colours or theme you want and that may help you decide what time of year to have it. xx

I don't think it matters, if you have a lot of children invited then summer could work as then you can take advantage of any outdoor space for them to run around in - then again winter weddings are really cosy too and can work well so depends on what you fancy! Although if it's like last year you may have trouble transport wise if we get any of that snow again!

If I could go back, I would change my date to winter. Because at least in winter you know the weather will be kinda rubbish whereas in summer you just kinda hope for the best. Plus LOADS of hotels have cheaper deals in the winter AND your honeymoon would be cheaper too! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I would let your colour choices and theme influence your decision. However, although I wanted a winter wedding because my venue looks even more omg at crimbo, I decided that this would not be a good idea as I hate being cold and I would have to be outside for photos in the cold for quite a while with no jacket etc. I also wondered about snow and how this could affect guests and suppliers/entertainers etc so in the end we decided to go for a summer wedding as even though we may not get sun, at least hopefully it wont be as cold and only traffic really can be against our guests and outside suppliers coming in. Hope that helps.

Suky, thats why I went for a summer wedding too. Plus lots of smokers in the wedding party and theres a porch out the front of my venue with tables and chairs. **HOPEFULLY** it'll be a warm summers day. Loch Lomond aint half as nice when its raining lol.

Im with you on the venue lookin better though! My venue would look so cute in the snow! Its a white cottagey like hotel. It would be lovely to get married on a snowy day but the reality of it - being cold and trapsing through snow, maybe I am glad I stuck with summer lol xxxxxxxxxxx

I am gutted I cant cut it in winter. The venue has xmas trees everywhere and everywhere is done in red and gold and omg its amazing. I wish I had not seen it all done up to be honest but I am always cold so a winter wedding was a bad idea for me. My guests also may not appreciate having photies in the freezing cold.

Summer for me, just love the sunshine and although there is no way of being sure the sun will shine, having a wedding in august gives me the best chance to have the sun shine :)

i'm getting married in spring so am right in the middle! lol. I'd go summer, just because even if the weather is rubbish its likely to be warm and rubbish as opposed to freezing and rubbish! :o)

I'm getting married during winter, we're hoping for snow!! Just to be different!!!
Our venue was cheaper during the out of season wedding period, plus you can't guarantee a lovley sunny, dry day during summer months. At least with it being colder outside everyone will be indoors together, it'll be dark on the evening, we'll have candles lit and fairy lights, it'll be pretty!!!! x

Ohhhh 50/50% at the moment! lol I think both would be gorgeous, but i voted for summer, i work in a school so i will have 6 weeks off and getting married in the middle of the holidays, so plenty of time for planning last minute bits n bobs. Also Winter is busy and expensive as it is, what with xmas and both of my kids birthdays 2 weeks either side of that! they are my only reasons behind opting for summer. A winter wedding can be very magical tho! i am thinking ice blue and sparkly crystals everywhere! oohh xxxx

Totally having this problem too. We wanted October but MIL2B thinks our colour (light blue) will be too cold for winter *confused face* But I'm happy to marry in the summer and have it sooner! lol :)

We picked a special date for us. Couldn't have it due to the venue taking down the marquee in october, but we still wanted autumnal/winter colours. It's personal preference at the end of the day.x

Awwww dear me! So many option and this is only a simple choice how am i going to cope with big decisions lol. You's are right though venues are so much less expensive in winter and so many look even more magical however living in central scotland is cause for concern with travelling. So difficult

We debated this too as our anniversary is end of November. But I have rubbish circulation so my hands & feet would be numb all day & I'd cry if guests/suppliers got stuck in the snow :(
In my head it'd be soooo pretty, but I'm too afraid of the worst happening in reality lol Xx
