I'm thinking of totally calling it off! I've recently been laid off from work and now have absolutely no wage coming in! my h2b has just been landed with a £300 phone bill (due to a friend ringing him, saying he has no credit and then h2b ringing him back) we still have to pay the registrar £280, we owe the venue £450 and we've not even started on the mens suits yet! im at my wits end. i have a job interview on wednesday but its only for a cleaning agency so im still not guarenteed a wage! We knew it'd be tough when we started planning as we have very little money, but the reason we were rushing it is because h2bs grandparents are getting on a bit and he really wants them there, postponing it for another year may mean that they're not all there and i dont want my h2b to go through that (all my grandparents have passed and i know the gutting feeling of getting married without them there) I just dont know what to do. Everytime i think we'll be ok and just about manage it, a horrible feeling of panic hits me and I just feel like sacking it off. xx

Awww bless you!! Maybe try ringing the phone company and explaining about the loss of job you may be able to pay it off gradually?

Hmmm how about BORROWING some money off family? We were about to cancel our wedding about a month ago even though we were so close, anyway my H2Bs step dad offered to lend us £500 & it basically saved the day!!
The people who care about you will most likely want to help hun! If they offer please dont turn it down, accept & return it once you can afford too xx

I know how you feel cos this happened to me, you just have to cut down on stuff and prioritise. If you have to postpone for a few months its not the end of the world. Is there no family members that can help you out? good luck I hope you can sort something xx
CommentAuthorclive
I know how you feel in a way, as I myself have just been handed my notice of three weeks due to redundancy. All I can suggest is take it in your stride and there's no point in worrying about what can be fixed.
I really wouldn't borrow more cash is it will just compound the issue. Try and speak to your various suppliers, as most offer flexible payment plans (i.e. pay as little or as much of as you like, when you like). I see your'e getting wed in four months, which is a long way off when job hunting, so try to find something suitable and get earning, and pay off what you can as opposed to borrowing. Doing the latter will compound the issue, as I said;-)
Good luck! xx

Oh Ziggyboo this is totally pants timing for you but you seem like you are getting through it :-).
My advice would be to prioritise, if you have paid a deposit on something but the balance to pay is a lot might be worth thinking of dropping if that money will go further elsewhere.
Sounds like you have a fab family, keep smiling.xx

Ahh, keep your chinup hun. Go through your list of things to do and order them into 'essential' and 'would like' and go from there. Also we have asked close family and friends for contributions to the wedding before hand instead of gifts. That has been received really well and we have already received donations into a paypal account which is helping us. You sound like you have a lovely family hunni, I hope it all works out x

i did think that but we are going to try doing it without as we're hoping to take our twins to disneyland paris for a familymoon next year, using whatever money we receive as gifts so going to hold off asking for pre-gifts for as long as possible! i have made a list and really the only things we need is to pay the venue off-£450, the registrar-£280 and the mens suits (which i think are going to have to wait til last minute in august.) thanks for your support guys. my h2b telling me all will be ok just doesnt do the trick lol! need female help lol xxx
