My OH's sister who just turned 11 and is such a sweetie to me just emailed me her measurements for dress, she says she fits a child 13 size, but her measurements nearly are close to adult 14, so dunno what to do, as my budget for her dress was £30 or £40 max, but no kids choice for bust 36" and waist 32" and if I was to pick an adult one she might get offended and frustrated as she's trying to lose weight, and thought she had since Christmas. Can you give me suggestions on how I could get a dress looking like flower girl but that fits her? how much alteration of kids dress would cost me?

what you mean look on fb? the other problem of dressmaker is my bloody MIL who will not come here so we can take professional measurements. I don't believe what Charlotte told me today (fg) she can't wear size 13 child and have bust 36" and waist 32", I am sure its MIL who is trying to make my life hell, her waist is bigger than mine according to this measurement

is there any way that they could contribute towards the dress so you have more choice? some Oxfam shops have lovely bridal sections that might be worth a look? that way you can then afford some alterations if need be? Plus you could get away with a bigger size and not offend her as she won't expect them to stock ALL sizes like a shop would x
I had this problem with my smaller bridesmaid and in the end we got a nice dress from Monsoon.

did her mum or some one measure her because having a daughter of my own who is 11 are you sure she has her measurements exactly right cos i know my daughter wouldn't get it right.
i have the opposite problem as my daughter is tiny for her ages still fits in aged 9 clothes and shes 12 this year so its getting her something that doesn't look to babyish. the best thing i could suggest is take her round some shops to try some dresses on that or look for some one to make one thats what i have ended up doing though I'm paying about the same as i would from a bridal shop but saving on not having alterations needed
