    Hi ladies

I get married in October and planning on a hen do mid-August. The problem is I'm struggling for ideas. I HATE typical hen dos. I hate the dressing up, the L plates, plastic penis straws, veils, etc. Just not for me at all.

I didn't particularly want to do a spa day either. Nice but something I could do anytime. I'd love to do something like a distillery tour, white water rafting, etc. However, all my friends have children (one is now pregnant again). They (and pretty much everyone else I'd be inviting bar one girl) would hate all the things I'd love to do! I love my family and friends dearly - but they aren't very adventurous!

I'm also conscious that everyone is travelling a long way for our wedding (as we're getting married about 200 miles away) and I don't want it to cost a fortune either.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Why not do a combination of things so that people can go to the bits that they can - ie the pregnant friend won't want to do anything too adventurous! I'm like you, I want to do something adventurous but not all of my friend would be up for it. There are companies that do adventure days though, like obstacle courses which are still fun bit give you tthe active side of things, then you can chill for an afternoon and have a meal and drinks after, or something like that?

As for your hens, they will come no matter what - at the end of the day it's your hen do and it has to be something you want to do, not them.

Maybe have a few things over a couple of days, like something adventurous one day and something relaxing the next? my sil had 3 hen do's and people turned up for all of them and she had a variety of different things. I don't really like usual hen do things either and because one of my bridesmaids will be only 15 (shes my cousin) I think i'm just going to have a nice chilled meal out with them all, that way my young bridesmaid can join in and not be left out.

Round our way we have a place in mepal (i think the place name is) and they do a variety of different things from archery, rock climbing, orienteering etc maybe you have something similar around where you are? i agree with Loz it's your hen do and i'm sure most will participate (i say most because i don't see a pregnant woman doing something doing something like bungee jumping lol)
