Have you thought about contacting a music school? You will find that older students are already high grade musicians but, because they are still students, wont cost as much. I know when I was in the orchestra there were a few members who did that x

When I was at school we used to play at weddings to get some extra money over the summer (I played the Oboe as part of a duet that would play the queen of Sheba and other pieces ) the string players would do this as well. Would try your local music college. A lot of the music that is played at weddings are simple classic pieces that are the bread and butter of any classicly trained musician. Would make sure they are grade 7 or 8

Hi, it may be worth looking into a string trio if you're on a budget. It will sound really nice as well and you're paying one player less. A professional will charge around £100 per person (depending on the area), so that is a normal price. Where are you getting married? If you're near a music college (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff or Glasgow), that's another place to look, or a universtiy music department. They should charge a little less but you'd be getting really good quality playing.

Hi I'm gettin a string quartet to play in the chapel then at my venue for the drinks reception and mine is costing me somewhere between 5 and 6 hundred, can't remember exactly. But I really want it, it's my one major luxury. It's so beautiful! x

I'm getting a harpist who sounds amazing and she is £50 an hour so a great bargain. We wanted a live band for the evening but due to space restrictions can't have one so instead were having a swing singer who sings live to backing tracks and has his own disco for in between and he is £400 and that includes travel costs from Manchester to Bosworth.
