how have you guys picked our photographers? I'm massively into visual arts etc, so i'm super fussy. it seems there are alot of people claiming to be 'contemporary' and 'modern' but when i look at their gallery online its all just super fake shots of couples in fields looking longingly into each others eyes??? thats not what we want. Plus they seem to go mad on photoshop.
Really I want to know how long everyone is having their photographer for? when is it kinda the 'norm' to end the photos, start of meal? after speeches? first dance? and do you think its necessary for them to be there during the brides preparations? I can just imagine lots of pics of me looking hot and bothered lol Plus we really don't want to do the whole line up thing, when you spend hours doing the line up shots of brides family, grooms family work friends, second cousins twice removed etc etc. but i do worry older family members might be disappointed.
What do we think? I do stress about these things a little too much me thinks lol xx

I'm having mine until the first dance. I like the shots in fields gazing into each others eyes though lol

The guy we're thinking of having does a free no obligation pre wedding shoot. He gives you the cd with all the pics on even if you don't book him!

we booked ours to do our family portrait and after seeing how he was with the kids, really relaxed and friendly we booked him straight away,iv got the portraits on here if you want a look
I only wanted one for an hour or so max and htey were still quoting me £200+. Cant afford that so after the ceremony we will invite the guests to take photos and request that we get digital copies of theior photos from then and hte rest of the day. Hopefully we will end up with some great shots. We have worked out where we want them and how we'll pose etc. I dont like all the stiff posey stuff though, prefer the more natural stuff (even tho thats posed too but it doesnt look it!). I hate having my photo taken so dreading it! x x

Found one whoop whoop, just went to wedding fair this evening at a hotel near me, really clicked (excuse the pun) with someone there, great photos just how we like them really on our wavelength we've booked and everything so panic over lol xx still can't decide how long to have em there though xxx

Im going from the preparations all the way through to the First Dance I like seeing those candid shots in your rollers and also i dont wanna rely on photos of us dancing with my brother iving some naughty hand signal in the corner of the shot.. and he would!
CommentAuthorKizzy81
Ours has agreed to come from us getting ready and stay until at least the first dance. I've told him he's welcome to stay as long as he likes though.

I'm really starting to stress about my photographer - I sent a cheque for the remaining balance to him during the week got a receipt back today confirming that all payments received for my wedding on the 10th October 2010 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i'm being married on the 23rd July 2010. Not sure if this is just a typing error cause my letter to him had 23rd July 2010 and just checked all my correspondence and it says 23rd July 2010 but this has really thrown me what if he has me in for the wrong date??? Talk about stressed!!!

Phone him today to check and if it works out hes double booked you, as youve paid in full he will hopefully have to move the other couple who maybe hasnt. Either way get something like money off or freebies for the hassle its caused you (lay it on thick) Either way joolsy do NOT panic till you know for sure.

I'm not having a photographer so can't really help hun. I just want casual snap shots which my cousins partner is doing as he's been dabbling with photography for many years and has done some weddings already. As he's family I feel he will do what I want and we will both feel comfortable. My 17 year old daughter is also going to uni this year to do photography so she will take some too! If I were you I'd try and find someone that a friend or family member has used, that way you can see their album and what they got for the money xx

i know exactly how you feel as i am a student photographer so when it came to choosing one for our wedding i have been overly critical especially about prices. have stressed out for about 5months over it because we have such a low budget. so we decided on one of my friends whos studying fine art and photography combined shes going to do it for us for a very low price :-) so thats good i know her works good so i dont mind so much :-D it is difficult choosing cause its not like you can go and re shoot theres only one chance to catch those moments :-) x
CommentAuthorClarey88
That's good angel.. My h2b is a graphic designer and went to art college so knows loads of photographers and he seems to have a cheap one in mind already!! xx

Glad you got it sorted Rosey! We have been so lucky, we have found an amazing photographer who normally photographs rock bands, but he is just moving into weddings so his package rates are amazing, we are having him from the time the guests arrive, right through to the first dance and the evening guests arriving. He doesn't normally do the "traditional" shots but I do want those, so we will have them and him in the background taking subtle photots lol! His photos are amazing. We get a pre wedding shoot, a CD with no copyright, 100 photos of our choice and a HUUUGE framed photo of our choice and all for....wait for it.... £170!!!!!!!!!!!! For £300 he will also do both the hen night and stag night, but I think we have decided not to do that! x
Do not disturb... Already disturbed enough!

Hi all, When I'm looking for a photographer, I want someone who treats their job seriously. I need a person who treats every couple individually and takes unique and lovely pictures. And is friendly of course. And actually I know someone like that. It's *************, a great female photographer who works in London and Cyprus. You can see her works on her website or a blog. Check out whether you like such a style:)
