welcome and congrats on the baby and getting married.

Each registry/ county have different prices so your best bet is to look online! you will need 2 witnesses there with you aswell and obv other guests if you want. it depends what day you get married to how much it will be aswell. Sat is the most expensive!

you will have to give notice aswell and you need to do this asap.

    1. to make sure that your date/time is free
    2. to get your certifcate to say you can get married. they will put notice on the wall somewhere for 2 weeks so people can object to you getting married but i dont know of anyone that has had that happen.

There will be a limit to the number of guests you can have but will depend on size of the room.

You will also have to pay to give notice which is about £33.50 each!
    hope this helps.

By law you have to give notice of marriage, which is a formal declaration of your intention to marry.
You are both required to give a notice of marriage and there is a standard fee for this. If you live in Stockport you must give notice to the Stockport Register Office.

If either or both of you live in another district, then you must give the notice at your local register office. The marriage itself can take place in Stockport Registration District, if you wish or in any Register Office in England and Wales.

Please note the marriage can only take place at the venue you name on the notice of marriage. If you were to change the venue it would be necessary to give, and pay for, fresh notices of marriage.

You cannot give a notice of marriage more than 12 months before the date of marriage. A marriage cannot take place until 15 days after you have given the notice

The Register Office ceremony room accomodates up to ten people.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listed below are the fees charged for ceremonies and certificates.
Marriage Fees - Notice of Marriage

Before you can get married, both bride and bridegroom are required legally to give Notice of Marriage. There is a statutory charge for this of £33.50 each.

Marriage Fees - Marriage at the Register Office

The fee to be paid on the day is £43.50, and includes the cost of one marriage certificate, issued on the day.

Marriage Fees - Marriage at Approved Premises

The fees for Marriages at Approved Premises, inclusive of the marriage certificate, from 1st April 2011 are shown below:

    £253.50* Monday - Thursday
    £353.50* Friday
    £373.50* Saturday
    £413.50* Sunday and Bank Holidays
An additional booking fee of £20 is required to secure a confirmed time, date and venue. This fee applies to marriages booked at an Approved Premise or the Sir A Brumwell Thomas Room and is non refundable.

Please note these fees are subject to annual review and do not include the hire of rooms or any other wedding service.

*This fee must be paid to the Superintendent Registrar at least 2 weeks before the ceremony is due to take place, and includes the cost of one marriage certificate, issued on the day and the attendance of two Registration Officers.

try the website of stockport council - stockport.gov.uk (BMD) and it should tell you the prices.

i know my register office (salford) seats 60 people but i only found that out when i went to drop paperwork off. it was £43.50 but i was told it going up this month.

be quick though booking it as you are entering bridal season and most dates get taken very quickly.
    xx
